PFL 9: Copperbox Arena; London, England

A decade ago just across the street from the Copperbox Arena, Kayla Harrison became world-wide; taking her first Olympic Gold. She then snagged another one. This year in the PFL, she’s looking to become the first three-time PFL champion. And she’s just one-win away from doing so, as Harrison continues her dominance.

In keeping her “0”, she sits at 15-0 with a dozen finishes, nine coming in the opening round. But this time her challenger to another strap is a familiar one. After Larissa Pacheco also made quick work of her opponent; finishing Olena Helena Kolesnyk in just 129-seconds, she grabbed the first finals spot. Then it was Harrison with a 3:17 finish over Martina Jindrova, ending her three-fight win streak.

Both winners pushed the pace and absolutely dominated in their specialties. Pacheco picking up her fifth first-round win in a row came forward with dynamite in both her hands. She’s more focused now then ever in her career. And she was pulling for Harrison to win also in order to get back both of her only losses over the last seven-years. And then proclaimed after the victory:

“No one can stop me”.

Harrison Continues Her Dominace In Her Playground

This time out Harrison had to deal with someone slippery quick. But the 31-year old Czech had her three-fight win streak broken when she made a fatal mistake. Harrison caught her sloppy kick attempt and got a take down. And from there on you can say it’s the same old story. Harrison’s suffocating ground game eventually put her in position to lock in a triangle. And then with the squeeze tight on Jindrova, came the tap.

Over the last year, Harrison has taken on some of ATT front man DAN LAMBERT’s wrestling talk. Although not nearly as vicious as from Colby Covington. But hey, she’s trying; and isn’t the wall flower that once was there.

She told the English crowd that she isn’t the queen of the PFL, she’s the queen of women’s mixed martial arts. Then asked Pacheco, watching in the back if she wanted to go right then and there. So as Harrison continues her dominance , this final may be the best one yet. Pacheco is locked in, and Harrison is always focused. This one may just go to the scorecards after a high stakes game of chess.
