Floyd Mayweather and Connor McGregor last faced off in 2017. After months of build-up, Mayweather would win that fight via a 10th-round technical knockout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

That was Mayweather’s final, legitimate, sanctioned fight. In the years since, he has participated in several exhibitions against primarily unknown competition, outside of YouTube star and occasional professional wrestler for the WWE, Logan Paul.

McGregor has stepped back into his native octagon four times since his fight with Money Mayweather, sporting a 1-3 record. His last UFC bout was in July 2021 against Dustin Poirier. A bout in which he broke his leg. His only time stepping into the boxing ring as a professional was against Mayweather.

Despite his poor performance in the octagon and rehabbing his broken right tibia, it appears that Floyd Mayweather has turned his sights to Connor McGregor again.

Per an exclusive with Sportsmail, Mayweather had this to say:

“’I want to go out there this weekend and have fun [against Mikuru Asakura]. Then I have another exhibition Dubai in November and me and Conor McGregor in 2023. We don’t know if it’s going to be an exhibition or a real fight. But there’s been talks of both. I would prefer an exhibition. … I am not into fights where I am going to take any real punishment. So guys like Conor McGregor and guys that don’t really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys, I don’t really mind colliding with those kinds of individuals but nothing where I am going to put myself in a position where I am going to harm myself or hurt myself.”

Just your typical Mayweather verbal vomit as he attempts to pry any name from any social media platform or company that he thinks can get him a headline.

It is worth noting that he compared the punching power of YouTubers to fighters from the UFC. Someone get a hot take from Nate Diaz for me.

This isn’t about money, not for Connor McGregor, not even for Floyd “Money” Mayweather. The duo has a combined net worth approaching $700 million.

It’s about both men wanting to stay relevant in the public eye. Neither needs the money, but they absolutely love the attention.
