On May 6, 2017, the Canadian Football Association accepted Winnipeg as one of two cities for professional clubs when the Canadian Premier League received unanimous approval. 

In May 2018, it was announced that the club would be called Valor FC. On 6 June 2018, the Canadian Premier League officially unveiled the club as the fourth team to join. 

The club plays its home matches at Pole IG, a 33,234-seat Canadian football stadium.

It is a Canadian football club based in Greater Victoria, British Columbia. The club is one of the Canadian football clubs competing in the Canadian Premier League.

Port City FC, as it is commonly known, was one of four groups accepted by the Canadian Football Association as a professional club, along with groups that became Cavalry FC, HFX Wanderers FC, and York 9 FC. On June 1, the Canadian Premier League gave the Port City ownership group a club on Vancouver Island.

In any case, the Canadian Premier League officially unveiled Pacific FC on July 20 as the seventh team to join. The team announced former Danish national team player Michael Silberbauer as the first head coach on 20 August. The club plays its home games at the Westhills Stadium. 

Toronto

Toronto FC is a Canadian football club based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The team plays its home matches at BMO Field, located at Exhibition Place on the Toronto waterfront. Toronto FC joined MLS in 2007 as an expansion team and became the first Canadian franchise in the league.

The club’s first win came in 2007, scoring the team’s first goal in a 3-1 home win over Chicago Fire. They are seven-time winners of the Canadian Championship and finished second in the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League. 

In 2017, Toronto FC also won the domestic triumph:

  • MLS Cup;
  • Supporters Shield;
  • Canadian Championship. 

Interesting fact: Toronto FC was born out of an online consultation in which the public voted on the name for a limited time. The vote consisted of the following options:

  • Toronto Northmen;
  • Inter Toronto FC;
  • Toronto Reds;
  • Toronto FC.
