Adidas has revealed their new Reverse Retro jerseys for every team in the NHL. Some teams got jerseys that could be considered the best in their wardrobe. At the same time, others got ones that probably shouldn’t be seen in public more than once. As for the Bruins, they got a return of a legend.
Oh Brother
The Bruins’ new Retro Reverse threads pay homage to their original third jersey, which was first worn in the mid-90s. In fact, these jerseys are pretty much exactly the same as the classic sweater. The major glaring difference is that it has a primary color of white instead of gold. But that big beautiful bear, thankfully, remains the same.
Those original Pooh Bear jerseys were pretty much the first Bruins jerseys since the first half of the 20th century, where Boston did not wear the spoked B. And now this new Retro Reverse set has brought back their spirit.
Let Me Have Fun!
Now, are these jerseys ugly? Yes, absolutely. But as we know, an ugly jersey is sometimes an endearing jersey. And don’t you want to pet that bear? Who cares if it’s “not aggressive”? It’s got that 90’s nostalgia! I know there is a large group of heathens out there who despise what the Pooh Bear jersey represents. But they hate fun, so their opinion does not matter.
I like to think I’m smart with my money. But once these Retro Reverse jerseys officially come out, I am 100 percent dropping $200+ to pick one up. I’ve always wanted a Pooh Bear Bruins jersey, and now I get to have one. Here’s hoping that I don’t end up spending a billion dollars on getting one for every Bruin on the active roster.
