Don’t look back now, but Boston Celtics Interim head coach Joe Mazzulla is off to a great start to begin his head coaching career. Mazzulla, 34, is the youngest coach in the NBA has been apart of the Celtics organization since 2019 under Brad Stevens and suspended coach Ime Udoka. Amongst all of the turmoil that went on with the suspension of Udoka, Mazzulla earned the right to step right in with the group of players he has. Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown lead the way for the Celtics also Marcus Smart, Al Horford, and newest addition Malcom Brogdon just some names that stand out on the team. Coach Mazzulla is from Johnston Rhode Island where he attended Bishop Hendricken High School In Warwick Rhode Island. He attended West Virginia University where he spent five seasons there (2006-2011).

He Deserves The Full Time Role As Coach

Early on this season Mazzulla has led the Celtics to a (3-0) record by beating the Philadelphia Sixers, Miami Heat, and the Orlando Magic. Mazulla two of the three wins so far this season have come against playoff teams with the Heat and the Sixers, especially the rematch the C’s had against Miami on Friday night. As this pace look for the Celtics to win at least 55-58 games this season with great leadership lead by Mazzulla. He definitely fits the part and the system that is played in Boston and being part of the organization going on three plus years make a difference. Celtics management should remove the interim tag and make it officially that has has the team heading in the right direction.

Players Like Coach Mazzulla

Everyone is seeing how hard his players are playing for him this season so far. Great team basketball by all the players, especially by the leaders in Brown, Tatum, Smart, Horford. After the devastating Finals loss last season against the Golden State Warriors, Boston has rebounded nicely so far. It seems like the team has flipped a switch over the summer and they want to make a statement this season that last year wasn’t a fluke and a title is still the goal. Mazzulla has his players playing extra hard and making sure everyone is on the same page defensively and offensively. Look for the Celtics to be one of the top three teams out of the Eastern Conference this season even battle for home court advantage come playoff time.
