Well, that was a refreshing site to see on Saturday. In what some could’ve been worried being a trap game the Georgia Bulldogs devoured Auburn at home. After a rough game on the road against Missouri, where it took until the fourth quarter for the offense to get on the board. The offense was on display early. This offensive line was ready to hush all the haters. Even with the Tiger’s defense playing hard until the very end.

Georgia Bulldogs Football

During last week’s game, we saw this offensive line get bullied for three quarters. Yes, they came around when it mattered in the fourth quarter but were still bullied nonetheless. It was very clear from the beginning Kirby was going to make sure his team owned the line of scrimmage this week. They were going to get back to Georgia Bulldog football, running the ball and playing good defense.

It was looking like a slow start was going to bite the Bulldogs again but it was obvious the run game was the focal point this week. The Tiger’s defense was stout early and forced two punts and a missed field goal attempt for the Georgia Bulldogs. However, it was a failed fake punt attempt that gave the offense prime field position. The offense ran the ball, five out of six offensive snaps, and ultimately got Kenny McIntosh in for the first touchdown.

It was all over from there the Bulldogs would go on to score five more touchdowns all of which came on the backs of the run game. Then the offense just lets those dawgs on the defensive side do what they do best. They allowed only two hundred and fifty-eight offensive yards from a very inexperienced Auburn offense and ten total points. Probably would’ve been even less if not for a late missed tackle and long score by Auburn. Either way, though Kirby made sure his Georgia Bulldogs dominated the line of scrimmage this week.

Bulldogs Going Forward

These Georgia Bulldogs, are far from the team we saw win it all last season. They have next week against Vanderbilt at home to get the final kinks worked out. Because after next week we’ve got Florida in Jacksonville, and then a very capable Tennesee team coming to Athens. I think going forward a few things need to be changed if we want to continue on this undefeated path.

We need to get the passing game worked out. Stetson Bennett missed a few wide-open throws over the last two weeks. Some are saying he isn’t one hundred percent health-wise. If it’s that then okay get him healthy, however, I think it has a lot to do with a lack of confidence right now as well. The seemingly reliable Ladd McConkey has had some struggles recently, and the receiving core is really young and inexperienced. We need AD Mitchell back on the field sooner rather than later and need to see veterans such as McConkey get out of their own heads. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to give Dominic Blaylock some more reps if possible. He’s made solid grabs when on the field.

As for the defense, not much other than getting Jalen Carter back as well. I mean though the defensive line was explosive. They got the very inexperienced Robby Ashford out of the pocket a lot with pressure. Just clean up the small mistakes such as missed tackles and miscommunications going forward and this defense will keep the team in the game.

Players I Noticed

I think going forward this is going to be more about the players that stood out to me for both teams. The Auburn Tigers didn’t have a lot of good going for them Saturday. However, if and only IF someone has some patience with Robby Ashford his athleticism is scary. He is fast and has a good arm he’s just super inexperienced and it showed against the Georgia Bulldogs’ defense.

Now for the Georgia Bulldogs players. I mean come on is this even a question? How about those studs in the backfield keeping that mantra of RBU firmly planted in Athens?! Daijun Edwards accounted for three touchdowns, Kenny McIntosh got one and the freshman Branson Robinson even got one late. This is a scary running back committee.

The “mailman” Stetson Bennett had himself a game even with the misthrows he had on Saturday. He went 20-32 and had two hundred and eight passing yards. He’s continuing to throw his name in as one of the best QBs in the country. This man even scurried sixty-four yards on this tough tigers defense for another rushing touchdown this season.

Vandy Is Coming

Our fellow SEC east foe Vanderbilt is making the trip to Athens this weekend. I mean honestly, this should be another win for these Georgia Bulldogs. Vanderbilt competed with Ole Miss this weekend but I honestly feel like we have twice the defense that Ole Miss has even with the youth. One thing is for sure though after this week’s game against Auburn. Kirby Smart and these Georgia Bulldogs want to win the line of scrimmage and are going to do their damn best each and every week to do so.
