Did the Rangers new Retro Reverse Jersey leak?

Did the New York Rangers new retro reverse jersey design get leaked? According to jersey designer and investigator Ali Murji it did. Murji broke the design of the San Jose Sharks new jersey and believes the Rangers will showcase a new Lady Liberty jersey this year.

If this is the design this will be the 4th different Lady Liberty design the Rangers have featured. The big difference in this design is for the first time they will use their regular home blue color as the jersey base.

Original Lady Liberty

The original Lady Liberty jersey made its debut in 1996. The design became an immediate hit with the fan base and would be worn periodically until 2007. The original was a navy jersey with silver and red. The logo according to former GM Neil Smith was inspired by the artwork on Mike Richter’s goalie mask.

White Lady Liberty

The original liberty jersey was so popular that for the 1998 season the Rangers rolled out a white version. The white version kept the navy piping and added a navy bottom stripe and replaced the red cuff. The jerseys were not as beloved as the original navy design and last just one season.

Retro Reverse 2020 version

For the 2020-21 season Adidas rolled out new retro reverse jerseys. This was the first time the Rangers went back to the Lady Liberty design since 2007. This time they eliminated the silver and extended the navy to the cuff on the sleeves. They also changed the collar but had the same 1996 “futuristic” Rangers logo on the shoulders.

If Ali Murji’s intel is correct, do you like the new liberty design? Personally, I would love to see the 2018 Winter Classic design make a comeback. I thought the old school look was awesome with the white Rangers lettering on the navy jersey.
