Although it ended up being a low-scoring game, with the Commanders winning 12-7. There was plenty of other drama and excitement on and off the field. Fan protests, injuries to key players, and a miraculous return after a gunshot recovery were all major parts of the game’s story. Plenty of other action will follow this weekend, and you can bet on all NFL games at Betway.

The Story of the Game

After the half, Justin Fields‘ 40-yard touchdown pass to Dante Pettis gave the Bears their first points of the game and the lead. However, it wouldn’t last long. As another Slye field goal and a first touchdown from rookie RB Brian Robinson would seal the victory for the Commanders.

The most important of those was a clutch stop just shy of the endzone in the final minute of the game. With the Bears looking to regain the lead, Benjamin St-Juste stopped Darnell Mooney from scoring a potential game-winning goal. The Commanders’ defense also forced Chicago to turn the ball over on downs three times in the game, and twice from down near the goal line.

Commanders Fans Protests

This season has seen the Washington Commanders’ fans protesting against their owner, Dan Snyder. Snyder has come under fire for the past few years due to claims about the team’s toxic workplace environment. He received a $10 million punishment from the league. Co-CEO Tanya Snyder was instructed to take the helm while Snyder was under investigation.

Now, fans have been staging protests against the team’s owner, trying to force him to sell. With Thursday night’s game against the Bears being televised, it was a great opportunity for them to make their voices heard. It remains to be seen how successful these protests will be, but they will bring light to the Commanders’ issues.

Bears QB Justin Fields Injury

This was the third loss in a row for the Bears this season. They are left with a 2-4 record after six weeks. It was made worse by the fact that QB Justin Fields reported after the game that he was suffering from a shoulder injury. According to the 23-year-old QB, it’s an injury he had before the game that flared up. Not much is known about it so far. Bears fans will be hoping that Fields can recover over the long break before their next game against the Patriots.

Brian Robinson Return

Just two months ago, Commanders RB Brian Robinson was the victim of an attempted carjacking. He suffered two gunshot wounds as the attackers tried to steal his vehicle while driving around Washington D.C. Thankfully, he was able to wrestle the firearm away from the assailants. Robinson managed to get to the hospital where he underwent surgery.

Although he was shot in the knee, the bullet thankfully passed all major ligaments and didn’t cause any lasting damage. This meant he was able to return to training for the Commanders relatively quickly and returned to the field on October 9 against the Titans.

On Thursday night, Robinson capped off his miraculous comeback by scoring his first touchdown since the shooting. It was also his first-ever touchdown in the NFL, and Commanders fans hope it will be the first of many for their team.
