The Boston Bruins are the real deal and have won 32 of their first 40 games. They are leading the Atlantic division as they break records in their quest for their fourth President’s trophy.
The Bruins set the record for the best home start in NHL history as they won their first fourteen games at TD Garden. The Bruins are the first to fifty points and this marks the fourth instance in NHL history of a team record with 50-plus points through their first thirty games. The others include the 1929-30 Bruins, 2008-09 Sharks, and 2012-13 Blackhawks.
Boston Bruins Historic Season Start
It has been a historic start for Boston who were given low expectations to start the season. Through 37 games the Bruins have lost on just eight occasions with four being overtime losses. A big part of their success has been the goalie tandem of Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman who have a combined .926 save percentage. They are keeping their opponent off the board and making ridiculous saves.
It also helps that David Pastrnak is one of the best players in the NHL. He is on pace to break career highs with 51 goals and 99 points. Pastrnak has been so much fun to watch as he is just dominating everyone right now. Also, Boston has benefited from their incredible scoring depth as twenty different Bruins have scored a goal this year. Ten players have three or more goals including the bottom six forwards including AJ Greer and Nick Foligno.
Boston Bruins are the Real Deal
Boston kicked off 2023 on a high note as they continue this roll they have been on. They are 4-0-0 in the new year and have concluded a sweep of the West Coast Road trip. The team gained all eight points in dominating fashion. The Bruins have outscored their opponents 18-6 in that span. Along with not allowing more than two goals against in that span.
They will see a lot of division foes in January who could present a challenge, but the Bruins have a nice cushion amid their record-setting start. If they stay healthy, they should have no problems making a run this year. The Boston Bruins are the best team in the NHL and there will be many eyes on them for the rest of the season.
