Just six days after being traded Bo Horvat would sign an eight-year, $68 million deal. Find out more about this deal below.
How We Got Here
Bo Horvat was traded to the New York Islanders in a trade that saw Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Räty and a top 12 protected first-round pick in 2023 go to the Canucks. Horvat was expected to be one of the biggest pieces available at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline. With there being months of trade rumours involving Horvat with teams such as the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Seattle Kraken and Columbus Blue Jackets all reportedly having interest at one point or another. Horvat would be voted into the 2023 NHL All-star game before his trade. He would still attend the game representing the Islanders instead of the Canucks on the Pacific Division All-Star team, however. Horvat would get a single assist at the game. As he would assist on a goal scored by former teammate Elias Pettersson in the Pacific Divisions 6-4 loss to the Central Division.
Horvat’s 2022-23 Campaign So Far
Bo Horvat has 31 goals and 54 points so far this season. Horvat was second on the Canucks in points before he was traded, just four points behind Elias Pettersson who leads the Canucks in points. He currently sits tied for 22nd in the league in points and tied for eighth in goals. Horvat will now lead the Islanders in points and goals this season. Having scored 12 more goals than Brock Nelson and Andres Lee. As well as eight more points than Brock Nelson. Horvat is expected to start his Islanders tenure on a line with Mathew Barzal and Josh Bailey. The Islanders will return to action after the All-Star break on February 5th against the Philadelphia Flyers.
