After an unfortunate ending to an unforgettable season for the Eagles, all there is to say is, it hurts so good. Not only was Jalen Hurts the runner-up for the regular season MVP award but he fell just short in the Super Bowl. The Eagles fell to the Chiefs, although Jalen Hurts had a historic night.

If the Eagles had won the game this would’ve been remembered as one of the greater performances by a quarterback in Super Bowl history. Jalen Hurts broke two Super Bowl records in the loss; most rushing yards by a quarterback and most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. Hurts rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns along with 304 passing yards and one passing touchdown.

I think there should have been more consideration for Hurts to win the Super Bowl MVP award. Just because the Eagles lost, it doesn’t mean he should be ineligible for that award.

That scenario is something that has only happened once. Linebacker Chuck Howley of the Dallas Cowboys was the first and only member of a losing team to win a Super Bowl MVP, in SB V.

I’d say Hurts was one play away from winning the MVP win or lose.

At what might’ve been the turning point in the game Hurts fumbled at the 45-yard line and Nick Bolton scooped and scored to tie the game 14-14.

In the end, the game was very close and either team could have easily won.  Both teams deserved the glory of winning but that’s sports.

I feel for Eagles fans. To come so close and have such a great year only to lose in a coin-flip-like ending.

Although the holding call was highly controversial it was not the play that won the game for the Chiefs. It was Patrick Mahomes’ scramble for 26 yards right before that. Which, surprisingly, was his longest run of the entire season.

The Chiefs definitely had more help from their defensive and special teams units. That scoop and score by Bolton along with Kadarius Toney’s punt return were the difference makers. Toney’s 65-yard punt return just so happens to be the longest punt return in Super Bowl history.

Respect to both the Eagles and Chiefs on their successful seasons. The two teams will play each other again next season at Arrowhead.
