Welcome to the NFL Free Agency Tracker. (Updated as of March 17th, 4:00 AM EST).

It’s been a month and a day since we saw the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. Football may not be known as a “year-round” sport, but many beg to differ. It’s because the free agency period began at 12 PM EST on March 13th. Okay, maybe a better term is “legal tampering” to describe this period. March 15th is the start of the new league year.

You’re probably wondering what moves your favorite team made to get better for next season. That’s what I am here for. Every notable signing/trade will be reported here and this will be updated daily.

Let the games begin! Or signings. Either way, enjoy!

Major Day Four Moves

 • CB Darius Slay stays with Philadelphia on a three-year, $42 million extension. The team also agreed to a one-year contract with CB Greedy Williams. • Chicago signs TE Robert Tonyan away from the rival Packers. The deal is only for one year. They also signed RB D’Onta Foreman to a one-year, $3 million deal.
 • Seahawks resign QB Drew Lock. He will still likely back up Geno Smith.
 • Colts sign QB Gardner Minshew, who will compete for a starting job along with Nick Foles until the team drafts a quarterback in this year’s draft.

Day 3 Moves

Late Night Moves To End Day Three

Panthers Find Their True Lead Back

<a rel=

Last year, Carolina split carries between Chuba Hubbard and D’Onta Foreman. It worked at certain times, but it was clear there was no true lead back. Enter Miles Sanders, who agrees on a deal to join the Panthers. The former Eagles running back ran for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns last year.

Leader Of The Hidden Village Of The Den No More

Denver Broncos free agency target: <a rel=Jamaal Williams – Mile High Report”/>

With the Lions signing his replacement in David Montgomery, Jamaal Williams has found a new home in New Orleans. The now-Saint agrees to a three-year deal and will work together with Alvin Kamara in the backfield. Williams led the NFL in rushing touchdowns with 17 last year while rushing for 1,066 yards.

An Eagle Returns Home

Report: Eagles Retain DT <a rel=Fletcher Cox With One-Year Deal”/>

A six-time Pro Bowler, Fletcher Cox makes the Eagles’ front office happy by taking a hometown discount to return to the team. He received other offers but decides to stay with Philadelphia and chase another Super Bowl.

Jacoby Brissett Has A Chance To Start Again

<a rel=Jacoby Brissett an important addition for Commanders | Yardbarker”/>

Sam Howell‘s chance at QB1 just got slimmer. Brissett agreed to a one-year contract with the Commanders after serving as the backup in Cleveland. The deal is worth up to $10 million. Brissett recorded 12 passing touchdowns for 2,608 yards.

Patriots Sign WR To Replace Meyers

2023 free agency: What WR market means for Chiefs' <a rel=JuJu Smith-Schuster“/>

Losing Jakobi Meyers hurts if you’re a Patriots fan. But, your front office is here to save the day. WR Juju Smith-Schuster is headed to Foxboro on a three-year deal worth $33 million. After a down year in 2021, he recorded 78 catches for 933 yards on a Chiefs team that won the Super Bowl.

Jordan Poyer Is Back

Bills Rumors: <a rel=Jordan Poyer Expected to Return on New Contract After Exploring Market | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report”/>

The Buffalo Bills bring back their dependable safety after it looked like Poyer would be moving on from the team. Instead, a two-year deal awaits one of the top defensive backs in the league.

Baker Mayfield Finds A New Home

Report: Bucs To Target QB <a rel=

No Tom Brady. What would the Buccaneers do at quarterback? This was the answer. The former number-one overall pick heads to Tampa Bay on a one-year deal worth up to $8.5 million dollars. With his only competition being Kyle Trask, it’s more than likely he will be the starter in 2023.

Carolina, Hurst Agree To Deal

Panthers reach deal with TE <a rel=

A three-year deal brings the tight end to the Panthers, where he automatically steps in as the TE1. With Cincinnati last season, he caught 52 balls for 414 yards/

Steelers Fill A Defensive Need

Pittsburgh Steelers signing inside linebacker <a rel=

With inside linebacker being a significant need, Pittsburgh went out and signed Cole Holcomb to a three-year deal. The former Washington linebacker was off to a blistering start last season before suffering a foot injury.

Other Moves From Day 3

 • Colts WR Ashton Dulin is headed back to Indianapolis (two years, $9.2 million)
 • QB Lamar Jackson can start negotiating with other teams (team placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on him)
 • Patriots, OT Riley Reiff agrees to deal
 • Bengals re-sign RB Trayveon Williams
 • Bills, WR Deonte Harty agrees to a two-year, $13.5 million deal
 • OLB Anthony Nelson resigns with Tampa Bay on a two-year, $11 million deal.
 • CB Darius Slay is set to be released from the Eagles after contract talks came to a screeching end.
 • New Orleans sign DT Khalen Saunders and DT Nathan Shepherd.
 • LB Lavonte David is back with Tampa Bay on a one-year deal worth up to $8 million.
 • LG Will Hernandez and LB Zeke Turner are back with the Cardinals.
 • RB Justice Hill resigns with the Baltimore Ravens on a two-year, $4.5 million deal.
 • 49ers sign former Raider DE Clelin Ferrell to a one-year deal.
 • DT Sheldon Rankins joins the Houston Texans after stints with the Saints and the Jets.
 • RB Ezekiel Elliott will have to find a new home after being released by the Cowboys.
 • DT Taven Bryan > Indianapolis Colts
 • DL Efe Obada returns to Washington
 • S DeShon Elliott is off to Miami and adds depth at the position for the Dolphins.
 • Miles Gaskin re-signs with Miami to provide depth at running back.
 • TE Eric Saubert leaves the Broncos to join the Dolphins.
 • Former Chiefs safety Juan Thornhill is off to the Browns.
 • CB Isaiah Oliver signs with San Francisco. The contract is two years long.

Day 2 Moves

Byron Murphy Joins the Vikings

A two-year, $22 million deal is set in stone for the former Cardinals’ cornerback. His single coverage skills will fit well with defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ scheme. The 25-year-old has recorded five interceptions and 229 tackles in his career.

Detroit Signs Jamaal Williams… Replacement

Sorry, Lions fans. Contract negotiations between Williams and Detroit were at a standstill, leading to the signing of RB David Montgomery. The former Bears RB signs a three-year, $18 million deal and will share the backfield along with D’Andre Swift. Montgomery carried the ball 201 times for 801 yards and five touchdowns in 2022.

Colts Sign Samson Ebukam Away From San Francisco

Thanks to a three-year, $27 million contract, the defensive end is off to Indianapolis to help restore order on the defensive side of the ball. He had five sacks in 2022 along with 36 tackles.

Seattle Signs DT Away From Packers

After starting his career with the Seahawks, this will be a homecoming for Jarran Reed. A two-year deal is what he will sign.

Samaje Perine Heads to Denver

After backing up Joe Mixon in Cincinnati for a while, Perine takes his talent to the Broncos. The deal is for two years and will have a chance for more playing time in a likely run-heavy Denver team.

Andy Dalton Joins Carolina’s Quarterback Room

The former New Orleans Saint stays in the division, joining the rival Panthers on a two-year, $10 million deal. $8 million is guaranteed, and he will compete for the starting job alongside Matt Corral and P.J. Walker. This signing could be so they have a quality backup behind whoever they decide to draft with the first overall pick.

Eagles Bring Back Bradberry

With uncertainty at cornerback, Philadelphia brings back one of their top players at the position James Bradberry. The contract is for three years, $44 million. Is Darius Slay next for the Eagles?

TRADE: COWBOYS RECEIVE FIVE-TIME PRO BOWLER

For just a fifth-round compensatory pick, the Dallas Cowboys acquire CB Stephon Gilmore from the Indianapolis Colts. Dallas’s secondary just got scarier, with Gilmore joining Trevon Diggs to form a solid duo.

Vikings Get Us Started On Day Two

Minnesota gets us started on the second day of free agency, bringing in former Saints defensive end Marcus Davenport. It is a one-year deal for the UTSA product. He has recorded 21.5 sacks over five seasons.

Matt Gay, Colts Agree to Deal

The contract is for four years, $22.5 million. Indianapolis finally solves their kicking woes with someone notable. Not the best pick, but solid nonetheless. This deal is the largest ever given to a kicker in free agency.

Taylor Heinicke: Potential QB1

Not with Washington. But, he does head to the Atlanta Falcons on a two-year deal worth up to $20 million. Desmond Ridders’s clear path to becoming a starter becomes blurry. Matter of fact, does this guarantee the Falcons won’t draft a quarterback in round one?

Kelce Is Back In The City Of Brotherly Love

The Eagles center decides to forgo retirement for another year, returning to the team on a one-year deal. Howie Roseman and the rest of the front office won’t have to worry about the center position until next year. Solid last year, Kelce will continue to be a strong force protecting Jalen Hurts.

TRADE: Shaq Mason To Houston

Whoever is at quarterback next season, at least they’ll have someone decent to protect them. Tampa Bay decided to move on from the 29-year-old guard and swap late-round picks with the Texans to complete the deal. Mason is the likely starter on the right side.

Raiders Sign A Weapon For Jimmy G

The New England reunion continues to get a little bigger. Josh McDaniels, Jimmy Garoppolo, and now Jakobi Meyers. The former receiver of the Patriots signs a three-year, $33 million deal with $21 million guaranteed. He automatically comes in as the WR2 behind star wideout Davante Adams. It looks like Garoppolo will have some solid guys to throw to, right?

Another Trade? Involving The Raiders? Darren Waller?

Yup. So much for having weapons at every position for Las Vegas. The New York Giants send a 2023 third-round pick to the Raiders in exchange for the Pro Bowl tight end. When healthy, Waller is a complete beast and mismatch against linebackers. If he can recreate the 2020 season that saw him record 107 catches for 1196 yards and nine touchdowns, New York got a steal. Another weapon for Daniel Jones to throw to. One less for Jimmy G.

Emmanuel Moseley To Detroit

One-year, $6 million deal. Moseley joins Sutton as two cornerbacks that the Lions have signed so far.

Azeez Al-Shaair To The Titans

Another piece from San Francisco’s defense is gone. Tennessee signs a stud who had a terrific 2021 season but got injured in 2022 and cut last year short for him.

Chargers Agree With Right Tackle Trey Pipkins III

A top priority for the team, Pipkins signs a three-year deal with Los Angeles. The right tackle position is officially locked down. But, what about Austin Ekeler? Is he going to get traded? The team did grant him permission to seek a trade. The 27-year-old failed to get the contract extension he wants and could find a new home for 2023.

Philadelphia Finds Sanders Replacement

With Miles Sanders on his way out, the Eagles bring in Rashaad Penny to replace him as running back. This is a one-year deal. When healthy, Penny can produce as we saw through the first five weeks of 2022 before getting hurt. Sanders is a huge loss, serving as the lead back for the past four years while amassing 20 touchdowns.

Allen Lazard Is A New York Jet

One item off Aaron Rodgers‘ checklist is off the board, as the former Packers receiver signs a four-year, $44 million deal with the Jets. It’s clear this team is doing whatever it takes to bring in Aaron Rodgers. Will this be all for nothing? No matter who is under center, Lazard will serve as the WR2 behind Garrett Wilson.

Other Moves Include

(Day 1 Moves Below)

The Chicago Bears Kick Us Off On Day One

General manager Ryan Poles sure know how to make a splash. After trading the number one pick to the Carolina Panthers for a haul that included wide receiver D.J. Moore, he makes another move. His first official free agent signing is linebacker T.J. Edwards. The 26-year-old defensive stud comes from the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles and has exceeded expectations since signing with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent.

Jimmy G Is A Raider

You read this correctly. No, your eyes aren’t wrong. Wouldn’t this be funnier if the Raiders were still in Oakland? No? Okay. Guess it’s just me.

The former Northern Illinois quarterback heads from San Francisco to a place where he is actually wanted. He signs a three-year, $67.5 million deal to reunite with head coach Josh McDaniels. Familiarity comes from their days in New England. $34 million are guaranteed. When healthy, all the quarterback does is win. The man is 40-17 when he is on the field. The question is: is he the incumbent starter for Las Vegas? Or does he serve as the backup for whoever they draft in April? If so, then this is quite an expensive backup. Regardless, the Raiders have been a potential destination since the Derek Carr situation came about. They finally got their man.

Another Eagle Flies Away

As if the Philadelphia Eagles could afford to lose another player. With Edwards gone, they must watch another one of their key defensive players leave. Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave departs them to join the San Francisco 49ers on a four-year, $84 million deal. $40 million is guaranteed at signing. When you think about pressuring the quarterback, Hargrave is the man. He had 11 sacks last season, a career-high. The former South Carolina product also finished with 16 quarterback hits and 60 total tackles last year. He joins Nick Bosa to form a dangerous pass-rushing duo.

Two New York Teams Lock Down Special Teams Units

The New York Giants kick off day one of free agency by resigning punter Jamie Gillan and long-snapper Casey Kreiter. Not the most eye-popping, but two fewer positions to worry about nonetheless. Gillan had 75 punts in 2022, with an average of 46.8 yards per punt. Not the best, but improvement is likely in 2023. As for the Buffalo Bills, they resign punter Sam Martin to a three-year deal.

Atlanta Trades For Tight End, Resigns Key Lineman

The Falcons decide that their first move was to improve their pass-catching unit. They trade away their seventh-round pick this year to the New England Patriots in exchange for tight end Jonnu Smith. He reunites with head coach Arthur Smith, who were together in Tennessee. Smith reeled in just 27 balls for 245 yards in 2022. The team also resigned guard Chris Lindstrom to a five-year extension.

New England Patriots Resign Key Defensive Piece

Cornerback Jonathan Jones is welcomed back to Foxboro. The Patriots resign their number one cornerback to a two-year deal. Jones led the team with four interceptions last year and was a key cog in their defense.

Denver Starts Improving Their Line

Do you want to see Russell Wilson get back to his former self? The Broncos’ front office said yes, and showed it by signing former 49ers offensive lineman Mike McGlinchey to a five-year, $87.5 million deal. The 28-year-old tackle finished with a 71.5 PFF grade last year, bringing improvement to a tackle group including Billy Turner (56.3) and Cameron Fleming (72.6).

From One Division Rival To Another

Speaking of offensive linemen, center Nick Gates decided to stay in the NFC East. Just not with the New York Giants. Instead, he signs with the rival Washington Commanders and has a chance to become the starting center for them. Ironic, since he suffered a broken leg in Washington a few years ago. But, his historic comeback last year is something none of us will forget. The deal is three years, $16.5 million.

Miami Has Another Quarterback

Is Tua Tagovailoa‘s job on the line? Maybe. That’s what the Dolphins’ front office is signaling, as they sign former Jets quarterback Mike White to a two-year deal worth $16 million deal. White had his moments last year for a team that started off strong but ended the season on a six-game losing streak. The 27-year-old only has two wins in his career, but was he the issue or the Jets? My guess is the latter. The reasoning behind this deal could be that the Dolphins want to avoid having a terrible backup behind Tagovailoa. Remember Skylar Thompson?

One word to describe that game: terrible. But, hey at least Dolphins fans won’t have to worry about having him under center again. Mike White is here to save the day.

The Lions Show Their Roar With Their First Signing

Oh, Detroit. Your Lions were an amazing story last season. From Hard Knocks to a Seattle loss away from a spot in the playoffs, coach Dan Campbell had a lot to be proud of last year.

To kick off free agency, the Lions bring in former Steelers cornerback on a three-year deal worth $33 million. The corner finished with 43 tackles last season and had three interceptions. The defense improves mightily for Detroit.

Kansas City Brings In Key Offensive Piece

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl in February and said “Let’s keep improving our already great offensive line”. They ink former Jaguars offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor to a four-year, $80 million deal. $60 million is guaranteed for a player who improved as the season went on last year. His 58.7 PFF grade is concerning, but numbers don’t always tell the whole story. He is still 25 years old and joins a unit led by Joe Thuney and Creed Humphrey among others.

Bills Bring In Reinforcements On The Line

Offensive lineman Connor McGovern said, “Let me sign with a team that knows how to win”. The former Cowboys guard signs with Buffalo on a three-year, $23 million deal. Buffalo fills a position of need with this signing, as Rodger Saffold (44.0 PFF grade) was not great at left guard last season.

Texans Bring In Another Quarterback

Likely to draft a quarterback in this year’s draft, the Houston Texans decided to bring some competition. Case Keenum is back in a Texans uniform after two seasons in Houston (2013 and 2014). He could be the starter until their draft pick is ready to go under center. Maybe they don’t draft a quarterback (unlikely but we must consider all scenarios). Linebacker Chase Winovich and running back Mike Boone were signed as well.

Panthers Improve Their Secondary

The Carolina Panthers’ defense was much better compared to their offense last year. They just got better, signing former safety Vonn Bell from the Bengals. The 28-year-old safety finished with four interceptions last year.

Another Linebacker Is Off The Board

As if the Chicago Bears couldn’t get any better. Pro Bowl linebacker Tremaine Edmunds is headed to the Windy City on a four-year, $72 million deal. $50 million is guaranteed. The former Buffalo Bill receives the largest contract for an inside linebacker thus far. He only had one sack last season but is a tackling machine with at least 100 tackles in every season.

Jessie Bates, You Are A Falcon!

The former Bengals safety heads to Atlanta on a four-year $16 million deal to boost Atlanta’s secondary. This contract makes him the fourth highest-paid safety in the history of the NFL. He had four interceptions last season along with 71 total tackles.

Steelers Add A Veteran

Former All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson packs his bags once more, as he is off to Pittsburgh. The veteran signs with the Steelers after a 2022 season where he racked up five interceptions and 15 pass deflections.

San Francisco Adds A Quarterback

Not the best choice, but a signing nonetheless. Former Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold signs a one-year deal to join the 49ers. Seems like Trey Lance will have some competition for fill-in” quarterback until Brock Purdy rejoins the team from injury. Does Kyle Shanahan believe Darnold could take the starting role even when Purdy returns?

Denver Adds Depth Behind Russell Wilson

Quarterback Jarrett Stidham proved last year that he can perform when needed. Last season’s game against the 49ers was proof. The Broncos saw enough from the former Raider to sign him to a two-year, $10 million deal to backup Wilson. If Wilson continues to underperform, could we see Stidham taking the starting spot?

Giants Improve at Linebacker

Former Colt Bobby Okereke inks a four-year, $40 million deal to join Big Blue. A massive upgrade on defense.

More Moves From Day One Including

 • Defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson heads to Cleveland on a four-year deal worth $57 million
 • The Browns also signed defensive end Ogbonnia Okoronkwo to a three-year deal. Replacement for the departed Jadaveon Clowney.
 • Former Chargers linebacker Eric Kendricks joins the Los Angeles Chargers
 • Jameis Winston returns to New Orleans and will serve as the backup to Derek Carr
 • Demarcus Walker, former DE of the Titans, signs with Chicago for three years, $21 million
 • Former Eagles left tackle Andre Dillard heads to the Titans
 • The Raiders sign former Eagles Safety Marcus Epps
 • Dolphins sign linebacker David Long to a two-year, $11 million
 • Tight end Chris Manhertz is now a Denver Bronco, signing for two years, $6 million. On the defensive side, they signed DE Zach Allen to a three-year, $45.75 million deal.
 • Jimmie Ward takes his cornerback talents to the Houston Texans, departing the almost NFC champion 49ers
