Scouting Notes
- Remarkably quick feet and overall quickness for his size.
- Great hands, was nearly exclusively a hands-catcher, not a body-catcher.
- Not a burner, but plenty of speed for his size.
- Exceptionally natural and comfortable with the position.
- Came back from an injury and was immediately integrated into the offense, seeming like the clear favorite target.
- Poor motor. At times showed the DAWG mentality, but often gave up on plays or seemed to significantly lower his effort levels.
- Doesn’t catch very well under heavy contact.
- Was interfered with a lot, but also complained to the refs a lot.
Short Summary
Cedric Tillman is a better version of Quentin Johnston in many ways, but also a worse version of him in some other crucial ones. This is such a natural comp, since the two play very similar styles.
Tillman is a much more natural receiver than Johnston. He has much more polish and does all the little things well. He doesn’t really have any big glaring flaws and is good or great at nearly every aspect of the game.
Unlike Johnston, Tillman doesn’t have a high ceiling at all. He severely lacks twitch and athleticism on the field, and he isn’t very explosive. Additionally, his late breakout age doesn’t induce confidence.
Overall, Cedric Tillman is a well-rounded and safe player, but with his injury history, relatively advanced age, late breakout, and slightly limited upside, I don’t see him getting drafted early.

- Age refers to the age of the player come draft night, rounded to the nearest half-age.
- Percentage numbers in the Player Info and Combine Stats sections – This refers to the percentile that number belongs to among all players at his position, going back nearly a decade.
- Percentiles in the Advanced Stats portion for cumulative stats are snap-adjusted. In other words, naturally, a player with more snaps will allow more sacks.
- Drop% – Drop rate, or the percentage of overall targets that were dropped.
- CTT, CTC% – Contested Targets, Contested Catch Rate.
- Y/RR – Yards per route run.
- 1stD – Total 1st downs accumulated.
- Line-Wide, Line-Slt – Percentage of snaps lined up wide or in the slot.
- COD – Change of direction.
