Scouting Notes

  • Crazy quick and light feet help him be wildly elusive and execute high-end route breaks.
  • Absolute BURNERS in the open field.
  • Completely lacks patience.
  • Elusive in the open field, but has no contact balance in traffic.
  • Doesn’t cut into or burst through holes very well, his turns are too angled.
  • Hesitant to hit holes when he should.
  • Vision and impact as a blocker were underwhelming.

Short Summary

Jahmyr Gibbs is one of the most explosive players in this draft and seems to be the consensus RB2 in this class. He is widely viewed as a flawless ‘back who lacks the requisite size to be a 3-down workhorse.

I think his flaws extend beyond his slight frame. His vision is exaggerated, he isn’t patient enough while also being too hesitant, and he isn’t a great blocker, which is a crucial skill to have for a projected 3rd-down receiving ‘back.

It’s hard to bet against him with his elite explosiveness and production, but the flaws are concerning.
