It’s been four years since the inaugural BMF Title (baddest mofo title). Dana White created this celebratory belt to present to the winner of the Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz fight. The name of the strap speaks for itself. Neither Masvidal nor Diaz refused any challenge that came their way. These fan favorites leave everything out there every time they step into the octagon. White named this out of respect for what both fighters have done for the UFC and the fans. That match did not disappoint. Only a doctor stoppage prevented Diaz from continuing the war with Masvidal for the title.

Now for just the second time in UFC history, Dana White has announced a new challenge for the BMF title. Masvidal has retired and White has found two fighters that fit the criteria to begin the next reign. Dustin “Diamond” Poirier will face Justin Gaethje on July 29. These guys are a walking performance bonus every time they step in the cage. White respects that. Gaethje has even come out and said it is not about winning or losing, it is about entertaining the fans.

Diamond is no different. When he goes out there, it is must see TV. This is Poirier’s fourth rematch in his career. He has never lost so far. Poirier knocked out Conor McGregor in 2021 to avenge his loss. He cruised to a victory against Max Holloway to become the interim champion at 155. He knocked out Eddie Alvarez after the first fight was ruled a no contest. Now here we are five years after his first fight with Gaethje. Both fighters have two title fights under their belts. They have earned their status in the top of the division.

And New

No doubt about, these two warriors are going to trade punches, whether it lasts one round or five. Both have vicious leg kicks and seem to get better after they get punched in the face. Expect Poirier to get the better of the exchanges, but it will come at a cost to his face and his legs. It will be safe to say that a long rehabilitation will follow this event for both fighters. Diamond extends his flawless rematch record to 4-0 and will hear the words “And New BMF Champion of the World!”
