The Masked Singer season nine semifinals were this week. The remaining three celebrities performed but only two moved on to the finals.
This season has been one of the most intriguing and shocking ones yet. Since the talent has been strong every episode is a treat. California Roll, Macaw, and Medusa competed in a three-way battle to see who would make it to the finale. A fun night with fantastic performances, clues, and a huge reveal. Here is a recap of the episode for those who missed it.
The Semifinals
California Roll
California Roll gave an impressive performance during the semifinals. Their vocals and harmonies helped make the song their own. The Panelists think this is a group of singers from a Broadway play by the clues. Also, the clue package mentioned that they performed on New Year’s Eve a few years ago.
Clues: number one role, ping pong, nineteen, menu, and Broadway
Popular Guess: Pentatonix, S Club 7
Macaw
Macaw gave one of the night’s best performances with an excellent rendition of a popular song. He has this beautiful voice that has so much range to it. Also, he showed more confidence and emotion than ever before. The panelists think he is a seasoned performer. His clues referenced that he is living his truth by performing again.
Clues: Vote, reserve, travel, birdcage, and Philippines
Popular Guesses: David Archuleta, Shawn Mendes
Medusa
Medusa gave it her all this week with an interesting rendition of a classic song. She always wins over the audience with her emotional performances. Also, the panelists think she is a professional singer who has been around for a while. Her clues referenced that she has a platinum record for her music.
Clues: Twin beds, photograph, camera, sailboat, and platinum record
Popular Guesses: Bishop Briggs, Fergie
Semifinal Reveal
There was a three-way battle between the semifinalists. Macaw and Medusa are headed to the Finale next week. Therefore, the California Roll was eliminated and revealed as the award-winning vocal group Pentatonix.
