PFL 6: 2023 Regular Season; Overtime Elite Arena: Atlanta, Georgia

Well with the PFL 2023 regular season closing, the repeat chance is still alive for some defending champions. But closing the show was Olivier AubinMercier with a third-round knee. In doing so he crumbled fellow Canadian, Anthony Romero then put an exclamation point on it with a nasty right hand on the ground. It forced referee BRYAN MINER to jump in at the 28-second mark.

Now the PFL lightweights will make their way to the playoffs in August at the HULU THEATER in Madison Square Garden. The “Canadian Gangster” at the 2-spot already has a victory over his opponent Natan Schulte last season. And this year the 1-spot belongs to Clay Collard. And he will face the seven-fight winning streak of Bruno Miranda.

Romero tried to push the pace but OAM was closing distance by being patient. Early on Mercier had the right hand working well and then it was the left finding a home on Romero. But the eight-year younger Canadian was game, landing body kicks and a stinging cresent kick. It was Aubin-Mercier however that was just a step ahead causing pressure.

Repeat Chance Is Still Alive For A Threesome Of Fighters

Joining Aubin-Mercier are Sadibou Sy at welterweight and women’s featherweight Larissa Pacheco. Out of the group however, it is Pacheco with arguably the easiest path. OAM needs to beat a former champion, and then the two-sport tough as nails Collard. “The Swedish Denzel” will most likely need to get through Magomed Magomedkerimov, who he lost to in 2021. But this version of Sy looks like a complete fighter. He keeps people at distance and punishes them viciously when they try to come inside.
