After continued weather delays on Sunday, the Firekeepers Casino 400 was postponed until Monday afternoon. Chris Buescher took home the win again after winning at Richmond.

Although it took a long time to get to the final lap, it was worth it the wait. The race was exciting and had a much better finish than Denny Hamlin’s at Pocono.

It came down to the wire between Martin Truex Jr and Chris Buescher. Both of these drivers have been getting hot at the right time. If not for one slip up by Truex Jr towards the end of the race, I think he would have won. They both sit comfortably in the Playoff Rankings at 1 and 11 following the race.

That marks two wins in a row for Buescher although I still think Martin Truex Jr has had the best car on the track dating back to New Hampshire.

It was a clean race for most of the drivers. However, there were some problems for a few pit crews this week.

For example, Tyler Reddick. It cost him the day. A mistake by the pit crew had him furious over the headset. He dropped all the way down to 30th place after being in position to finish top 5. Another small mishap kept Austin Cindric out of the top 10 after he tried leaving his pitstop early. It is frustrating for one pitstop to make or break your day but a good reminder before the playoffs.

It was another tough race for Kyle Busch, who did not finish once again. Busch has had a hard month but still remains as the 9th ranked driver thanks to his 3 wins on the season.

Looking Ahead

Next Sunday, the drivers will take on Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Tyler Reddick was last year’s winner. I’m sure they are looking at this race as a big opportunity to get back on track and make a push ahead of the playoffs.

Another driver i’Il have my eyes on this week is Kevin Harvick. Harvick has yet to win a race this season, but has a very solid year so far. I think his experience will keep him within the top 10 and give a good chance to see victory lane at the BrickYard.
