Bellator 298: Sanford Pentagon: Sioux Falls, SD

Sometimes a fighter needs a lopsided win to get where he wants to go. It wasn’t a completely lopsided affair, but after a monstrous win for him, Logan Storley makes two statements.

In front of his hometown crowd the 30-year old who has dropped two-decisions to champion Yaroslav Amosov made statement two, not a “gimme the champion asap” type call out. Instead the humble fighter said let’s just see the way things in the division fall out. Statement one though, was he could go back in time where he just wasn’t a wrestler. But an aggressive fighter as well.

In ground-and-pounding Brennan Ward he picks up his ninth-career knockout. This coming at the 4:05 mark of the second-round, when referee JASON HERZOG saw enough to jump in. With Ward not too happy about it. Ward used his famous jab and uppercut to get Storley’s attention early on. Storley circled away from that power as Ward inched forward. In both rounds Storley was able to use that wrestling to bring the action to the mat. And getting to top position he controlled the action like a wet carpet.

Logan Storley Makes Two Statements In Big Win

Holding on to his number-one ranking, he could have easily demanded the trilogy fight with the Ukrainian. But in not doing so, it does set something up BELLATOR and Scott Coker may consider, especially if they are not bought buy the PFL anytime soon.

Have two-teammates decide who gets the next opportunity for the belt. Formerly known as SANFORD MMA, now KILL CLIFF FC the red hot Jason Jackson has climbed up the rankings and now sits right behind Storley at two.

If Storley is going to mix in striking with his wrestling, he’s going to be dangerous. But Jackson already combines both well and would have a sizeable advantage too. Like they say, a great big man always beats a great smaller man. And Amosov might just have Storley’s number. Jackson brings problems for both of them besides the ones mentioned.

Jackson has faster hand speed and his striking is more sharp than either of them. He also has a slightly better resume overall. Perhaps that’s why Storley made no type of call out. Deep down he knows a teammate stands in his way to the strap he wants back around his waist. Afterall, he did say he’d finish Ward.
