We are three weeks away from the kickoff of the NFL regular season. By that time every team will have to trim their roster down from 90 to 53 players. There will inevitably be a couple of surprises about who is released from each team. I would love it if there was an easy way for someone to do my project for me, but still, there will be a couple of tough decisions when it comes to cuts, making it difficult to project the Miami Dolphins’ 53-man roster.

Quarterback

Tua Tagovailoa, Mike White, Skylar Thompson

Running Back

Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, Devon Achane, Salvon Ahmed, Alec Ingold

Myles Gaskin is a notable omission here. Gaskin is entering his fifth season and was the team’s primary back just two years ago. However, he struggled to find his way onto the active roster last year (only being active for four games all year) and Miami brought in the dynamic Achane as a third-round draft pick.

Wide Receiver

Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Braxton Berrios, Cedrick Wilson, Erik Ezukanma, Chosen Anderson, River Cracraft

Tight End

Durham Smythe, Tyler Kroft, Elijah Higgins

Tanner Conner was an undrafted free agent last year who has been converted from wide receiver to tight end. Conner has been on the PUP list since late July and it is unclear what the injury is. He may find himself on the PUP list to start the season as well.

Offensive Line

Terron Armstead, Connor Williams, Robert Hunt, Austin Jackson, Isaiah Wynn, Robert Jones, Kendall Lamm, Ryan Hayes, Dan Feeney

Liam Eichenberg is the biggest notable not included. Eichenberg was a second-round draft pick in 2021 and started 26 games in the last two seasons. However, Eichenberg has struggled mightily and Miami has brought in a number of veterans to challenge/replace him. He has continued to struggle during camp and has reportedly been outperformed by the likes of Wynn.

Defensive Line

Christian Wilkins, Zach Sieler, Raekwon Davis, Emmanuel Ogbah, Brandon Pili, Da’Shawn Hand

Linebacker

Jerome Baker, David Long, Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, Andrew Van Ginkel, Duke Riley, Channing Tindall, Aubrey Miller

Defensive Back

Xavien Howard, Cam Smith, Kader Kohou, Noah Igbinoghene, Trill Williams, Jevon Holland, Brandon Jones, DeShon Elliot, Eli Apple

Notable omissions include Jalen Ramsey and Nik Needham. Ramsey is recovering from knee surgery and isn’t expected to be available until December. Needham is recovering from surgery for a torn Achilles suffered last October. Both players will likely be placed on/remain on the PUP list meaning they will miss at least the first four games.

Special Teams

Jason Sanders (K), Jake Bailey (P), Blake Ferguson (LS)

There will be a couple of tough decisions when it comes to cuts, making it difficult to project the Miami Dolphins’ 53-man roster. No matter what, the Miami Dolphins have one of the most talented rosters in the league. There are areas of concern when it comes to depth, but the starting 11 on both sides of the ball can match up with almost anyone.
