Week four of the NFL season is in the books. Let’s take a look at the scenario if the NFL playoffs started today. Teams that begin 4-0 are as close to a lock to make it. 3-1 has just as good a chance. Not so much for 0-4 as only one team in history has done it since 1992: the San Diego Chargers. 1-3 doesn’t raise those chances much either. Take that with a grain of salt. With the recent expansion to 17 games and seven playoff spots, anything can happen in the 2023 NFL season.

AFC

East

Buffalo Bills (3-1): #3 seed looking like the team everyone expected.

Miami Dolphins (3-1): #5 seed finally came back down to earth after a historic start.

New England Patriots (1-3): Belichick’s facial expression said it all. Time to blow it up and start from scratch.

New York Jets (1-3): Offense starting to come alive a bit. Still plenty of time to push for a playoff spot.

North

Baltimore Ravens (3-1): #2 seed. Defense looks very sharp.

Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2): #6 seed. As Tomlin said, changes need to happen.

Cleveland Browns (2-2): #7 bye week gives them a break with 49ers coming to town.

Cincinnati Bengals (1-3): Please give your injured QB the rest he needs.

South

Indianapolis Colts (2-2): #4 seed looking at back-to-back division matchups.

Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2): Schedule is not easy through November. Maybe Bills will have jetlag in London this week like the Falcons seemed to have.

Houston Texans (2-2): They have found their franchise QB in Stroud.

Tennessee Titans (2-2): The twists and turns of this division. Team to watch.

West

Kansas City Chiefs (3-1): #1 seed. Very sketchy second half against the Jets.

Los Angeles Chargers (2-2): Before Herbert’s injury, offense looked unstoppable.

Las Vegas Raiders (1-3): Blow the team up.

Denver Broncos (1-3): Someone had to win in the battle of the winless.

NFC

East

Philadelphia Eagles (4-0): #1 seed. Schedule is tough and they do not look like an unstoppable team.

Dallas Cowboys (3-1): #6 seed. SNF in San Francisco may be the game of the year.

Washington Commanders (2-2): Tough schedule for rest of the year. Have surpassed expectations so far.

New York Giants (1-3): Struggling without their RB. Same one-dimensional game.

North

Detroit Lions (3-1): #4 seed. This Lions squad looks like they can win their first playoff game in 32 years.

Green Bay Packers (2-2): Bad loss on Thursday Night Football. Should take advantage of the next two games.

Minnesota Vikings (1-3): Barely squeezed out a win against a bottom-two team in the league.

Chicago Bears (0-4): When is the 2024 NFL Draft?

South

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1): #3 seed. Bye week after impressive win on road.

Atlanta Falcons (2-2): #7 seed. Need to get their impact players involved more.

New Orleans Saints (2-2): Carr not fully healthy. Division not out of reach.

Carolina Panthers (0-4): Bryce Young with a brutal first four games to start his career.

NFC West:

San Francisco 49ers (4-0): #2 seed. Face Cowboys at home and will prove that they are Super Bowl favorites.

Seattle Seahawks (3-1): #5 seed, bye week after beatdown of the struggling Giants.

Los Angeles Rams (2-2): With Cooper Kupp coming back this week, it could be a huge upset spot over the Eagles.

Arizona Cardinals (1-3): Back to earth last week against 49ers. Get limping Bengals at home this week.
