Week 7 of the NFL season is in the books. Let’s take a look at the scenario if the NFL playoffs started today. We told you in prior articles that teams that begin 0-3 have the slightest of chances to make the playoffs. The possibilities have increased due to a 17-game schedule and seven teams getting in. Look no further than the 0-3 Minnesota Vikings, who have a road that may get them to nine wins or better. There are also a handful of 1-2 starters that are making waves in the league at a higher-than-average pace. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Take this all with a grain of salt. With the recent expansion and additional playoff spots, anything can happen in the 2023 NFL season.
AFC
East
🏈🏈 Miami Dolphins (5-2): #2 seed. No quality wins. Master of the “B” Division.
🏈 Buffalo Bills (4-3): #7 seed. Should be three losses in a row. Need to find that magic from the past if they are going to play deep into January.
New York Jets (3-3): Defense has put the league on notice. Offense is continuously improving every week.
New England Patriots (2-5): Boston TV market wasn’t ready for 1-6 Pats. Belichick 10 more post-game pressers left.
North
🏈🏈 Baltimore Ravens (5-2): #3 seed. Lamar is a lot of fun to watch when they are winning.
🏈 Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2): #5 seed. Top five defense in the league and getting healthier on the offensive side.
🏈 Cleveland Browns (4-2): #6 seed. Refs may have decided a huge win for them. Due for regression this week in Seattle.
Cincinnati Bengals (3-3): 49ers come limping into town. Don’t let the record fool you. Please rest your injured QB. Nothing to play for this season. Will be over soon.
South
🏈🏈 Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2): #4 seed. Solid play. Have tough game in Pittsburgh this week and then a much-needed bye week. Schedule is tough.
Houston Texans (3-3): Go to basement dwellers Panthers off the bye. Bye teams are not doing well this season so far, but Carolina is off the bye, also. Could be in for a shock.
Indianapolis Colts (3-4): Would never blame the refs for deciding the outcome of a game, but two flags in the last 40 seconds?
Tennessee Titans (2-4): Off the bye. Their road is not easy. Time for a change.
West
🏈🏈 Kansas City Chiefs (6-1): #1 seed. Looks like 13+ wins with their somewhat easy road ahead.
Las Vegas Raiders (3-4): Time to start tanking for a better draft pick.
Los Angeles Chargers (2-4): Season on the line with Bears coming to town. Why is Staley still the coach?
Denver Broncos (2-5): Another very ugly game, but pulled out the win.
NFC
East
🏈🏈 Philadelphia Eagles (6-1): #1 seed. Best offensive and defensive line in the NFL.
🏈 Dallas Cowboys (4-2): #6 seed. Off the bye. Tough road ahead. Same old Cowboys.
Washington Commanders (3-4): Rematch vs. Eagles in their backyard to keep season alive.
New York Giants (2-5): Defense has been vicious the last two games. Play the MetLife Jets this week. Can they score? Doubt it.
North
🏈🏈 Detroit Lions (5-2): #2 seed. They went into Baltimore not 100 percent and took a 60-minute mulligan.
Minnesota Vikings (3-4): Schedule says they can play .500 ball and possibly sneak into that last wild-card spot. Will they?
Green Bay Packers (2-4): May possibly be the worst team in football. Jordan Love is not the answer.
Chicago Bears (2-5): Tattooed Tyson Bagent has given Chicago a reason to hope? Nope.
South
🏈🏈 Atlanta Falcons (4-3): #4 seed goes to Titans off their bye. Needs to stay consistent. The road is fairly easy the rest of way. Division is theirs to lose.
🏈 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-3): #7 seed. Two losses off the bye. Still in it, but QB is only looking at two receivers almost 50 percent of the time.
New Orleans Saints (3-4): Thought they may be contenders. No quality wins.
Carolina Panthers (0-6): Best 0-6 team in the NFL.
NFC West:
🏈🏈 San Francisco 49ers (5-2) #3 seed. A fully healthy roster makes them the best team in the league. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
🏈 Seattle Seahawks (4-2): #5 seed. Season begins this week. Haven’t really beaten anyone.
Los Angeles Rams (3-4): Seemed to be more Steeler fans at their home game. Still in contention for a wild card spot.
Arizona Cardinals (1-6): They are playing all 60 minutes. Schedule has been tough.
