The Day Of Reckoning: Kindom Arena; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

There were murmurs that he was done, became soft, just didn’t want it anymore. Well now that Anthony Joshua has seemingly brought back his pinpoint striking, it seems the drive for three time champion status has arrived. And Ben Davidson has something to do with that, along with the gameplan they used against Otto Wallin.

He started out pawing his jab out as a range finder versus the versatile southpaw. And despite Wallin moving around Joshua’s stinging right hands continued to find a home on the Swede’s face. Cutting him below the right eye and nose. Any shot that Wallin managed to land, had no real affect on Joshua.

Once the two-time former champion smelled blood in the water he became the destroyer that put him on the map. He mixed up his attack going body head throughout rounds four and five taking everything out of Wallin, pushing the corner to stop the fight after the fifth-round.

The Drive For Three Time Glory Has Arrived

While Joshua didn’t say a scrap with Deontay Wilder is no longer on his mind, he feels the fans still would like to see it. But the look on promoter Eddie Hearn‘s face told a bit of a different story. He proclaimed that “JOSHUA IS BACK”!. And hinted who targets should be in Croatian power puncher Filip Hrgovic.

“El Animal” is consistent and a serious challenge. Where he would be lacking is in resume and experience in the red hot glare of the spotlight. And if Joshua wanted to take him into deep waters he could. And if Joshua keeps staying focused, with the confidence he has now, he could easily hang the first loss on Hrgovic. Especially if he uses his footwork as he should, dipping in and out. His striking is more accurate as well. The only real question is the same one as always with Joshua really. How does his chin hold up to being solidly cracked. Because Hrgovic will get inside, and test it.

With another three-fight year in 2024, and all wins (say, Hrgovic, Joseph Parker), that third victory could grab him a piece of gold. Although Saudi Arabia is quickly becoming the new Las Vegas; that Parker scrap would be a gem of a battle in Europe or the United States.
