The MLB offseason achievers and underachievers include teams that have filled their roster needs and teams have been quiet. Baseball is finally on its way after an interesting offseason.

Weirdly, forty percent of the top free agents remain on the market and teams have yet to scoop them up. Some teams made some nice moves. While other teams struggled in the offseason to reach goals. Here are the achievers and underachievers of the MLB offseason.

At this point, many MLB teams have already cashed in on their needs. They found ways to bolster their rotations and added bats to the middle of the lineup. One of the teams that had a good offseason is the Baltimore Orioles. They shocked everyone with a big trade for Corbin Burnes. The longtime Brewers star gives the Orioles another edge to an already stacked roster. They also made other small moves to help them compete in AL East.

The Royals have made some nice moves to fill in their pitching holes. Their newest additions Seth Lugo and Michael Wacha give them a solid rotation. Also, they added some depth to their lineup. For many the Dodgers seem like the clear offseason winner after the big deal for superstar Shohei Ohtani. He gives them more power in the lineup and options in the outfield. There are other teams like the Rangers, Giants, and Brewers who strengthened their rosters.

Also, there are teams for one reason or another that have been quiet this offseason but they needed to do something. Whether embracing a rebuild or whiffing on a free agent these teams are offseason underachievers. One of those teams is the Red Sox who need some veteran presence in the rotation and power bat in the lineup. The Toronto Blue Jays missed the third wild card in 2023 and have done nothing to make their roster better. They need a first baseman and outfielder after losing players in free agency.

After winning their first playoff game in nearly twenty years the Minnesota Twins had a quiet offseason. They needed to boost their lineup and add to the bullpen. Another team that needed to do more was the Colorado Rockies. Even though the Rockies roster is mostly set for 2024 they still need a veteran bat and pitcher. The Rockies needed to have a more productive offseason.

There are still quite a few players left on the market that need to be signed. However, the price tag may be too high for some of the small market teams. It will be interesting to see the rosters these teams go into the new season with. Stay tuned for more MLB news and stories.
