It’s a bittersweet time for Red Sox fans right now. The MLB season is upon us but many fans feel underwhelmed by the offseason and don’t have high expectations. Nevertheless, there is plenty to be hopeful for this season and it’s time to look at what we believe will happen. Here are five predictions for the 2024 Red Sox. Some are bold, some are not. That’s up to you to decide.

Trevor Story Produces A 25-25 Season

It’s revenge season for Trevor Story. After two injury-riddled and lackluster seasons, Story looks to prove his worth to the Boston Red Sox and their fans. That’s where this prediction comes in. Story hits 25 dingers and steals 25 bases in what fans will deem a great comeback season. He’s battled through a lot in Boston and looks the best he has since signing in 2022. It’s time to show it off.

Nick Pivetta Wears Another Uniform

Let’s face the reality. This could be a tough season for the Red Sox. After yet another offseason where ownership refuses to invest in the team, the Sox could find themselves as sellers at the deadline. Nick Pivetta is a free agent at the end of the season and could be a valuable trade chip to a contender team. Pivetta finishes the season in another uniform

Yoshida Takes The Next Step

Masataka Yoshida put up a solid but not great first MLB season. After looking impressive through the early summer months, Yoshida seemed to deal with fatigue and his production dipped. For Japanese players, that’s not uncommon during their transition to American baseball. The MLB season is longer and involves significantly more travel than Yoshida ever experienced in Japan. On top of that, Yoshida participated in the WBC before the 2023 season. I believe he’ll be more prepared for the toll of an MLB season and combine that with him moving primarily to DH, Yoshida will show up big time. Let’s go with a .304 BA, 19 HRs, 87 RBIs, and an OPS over .840.

Tristan Casas Finishes Top Five In AL MVP

I firmly believe this could be the season of Tristan Casas. After an impressive rookie campaign and having one of the league’s best second half of the season, it’s time for him to showcase it all. Let’s go with a .278 BA, 31 HRs 101 RBIs and an OPS over .900

Roman Anthony Earns ML at-bats in 2024

He’s young, he’s impressive and we have a chance for a star to truly emerge this season. Still only 19 years old, Roman Anthony is set to begin the season in AA. With that said, they may not be able to keep him there for long. His approach at the plate is so impressive and advanced for his age. I think there’s a real shot Anthony will be in AAA by mid to late June and could speed through into a late-season call-up. Especially if the Red Sox are out of the playoff mix come September.
