When it comes to the actual sport, not many NBA games have the same feel as a March Madness game. The way the games are played is completely different. It’s almost like watching a new sport.

Each team competes down to the very last second. In March each possession is significant. With just 40 minutes of playing time compared to the 48 minutes in an NBA game, there is no time to waste. Many games have a full-court press for the entirety of the second half.

The level of intensity never fails. Some of the most exciting moments in the history of sports have happened on the NCAA hardwood.

The Teams Matter More

In the NBA, most fans know every player on their team. They are familiar with most players on opposing teams as well. In March, if you’re like me, all you have is your team and your bracket. As the tournament rolls on you familiarize yourself with your teams and players and attach to them in hopes that they will cut down the nets.

If you’re lucky you can make it through day one without your favorite team being eliminated.
