Last year was so promising for the New York Jets. But, with Aaron Rodgers going down less than five plays into week one, everything fans dreamed of went down the drain. A 7-10 record was not what anyone expected in 2023. So, the Jets front office didn’t mess around this offseason. They made improvements on defense (signing DT Javon Kinlaw) while also improving protection up front (guard John Simpson and tackle Tyron Smith). Most notably, they added wideout Mike Williams, who was released from the Los Angeles Chargers. With this move, they’re ready. Ready to win the division this upcoming season.

Best Offense Rodgers Has Had In A While

Back in Green Bay, Rodgers has had his share of solid offenses to work with. But, during his last few years with the Packers, there weren’t many dependable skill players around him other than Davante Adams.

Fast forward to today, and you could argue this is Rodgers’ best offense he has had in a while. Let’s start with who was already there before this offseason.

You have 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, who has been the clear WR1 since his arrival. Though his touchdown numbers don’t say much, he improved his reception total from 83 to 95 in his second season while recording another 1,000-yard season.

Then, there’s running back Breece Hall, who is electric. After a promising 2022 that ended due to injury, 2023 ended with a full season played where he recorded 994 rushing yards on 223 carries. Hall also had 76 catches for 591 yards and four scores in the receiving game. A dual-threat back, indeed.

Add in Allen Lazard and solid production from tight end Tyler Conklin last year, and the offense looked good as it was. It just needed Rodgers leading the way.

But, adding Williams to the mix makes this offense dangerous. The 29-year-old only played three games last year before going down with an injury. However, the wideout did have 895 yards on 63 catches in 2022 through 13 games played.

The 6’4″ target will be a welcoming site for Rodgers, who could another dependable wideout to work with outside of Wilson.

Why The Jets?

It’s good to wonder as to why Williams chose the Jets as his next destination to play at.

“I just felt like it was a great fit for me,” Williams said. “Aaron, I want to be able to play with him. Pick his brain, learn from him. Playing alongside Garrett, kinda reminds me of Keenan a little bit. Similar style play, great route runners and I feel like we can complement each other in that area. The running game is pretty good, defense is elite so I just feel like we have a pretty good opportunity in front of us.”

Mike Williams on choosing the New York Jets as his next team

With 4,086 yards and 31 touchdowns to his name, he looks to replicate his 2021 season (76/1146/9) and help the Jets get back on top of the AFC East.

The Jets are coming. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS, indeed.
