What’d you think about Dover? Make sure you let me know in the comments! Either way though. You know the deal by now right? The checkered flag waived, so that means we have to update the weekly 2024 NASCAR Power Rankings. Especially before the Cup Series heads onto Kansas this weekend.

The Beginning

  • 15. Ty Gibbs

A string of finishes outside the top ten even though they were in the top fifteen, but rebounded this week at Dover. Solid run to jump back onto these 2024 NASCAR Power Rankings.

  • 14. Chase Briscoe

I couldn’t say it better than the guy himself. Dover was unkind, and in his last six Kansas starts he has one top fifteen finish. So I’m not sure it will be turning around this week but love his confidence.

  • 13. Kyle Busch

Kaleb touched on Kyle, in his most recent piece. It was a good day at Dover, and he grabbed his first top five since Atlanta. Kansas was okay to Kyle in the fall when he finished seventh so we shall see how this weekend goes.

  • 12. Ross Chastain

I halfway expected a better finish for Ross then 12th at Dover but again a top fifteen is nothing to frown about. He can head to Kansas and know he’s never finished outside the top fifteen there in his time with Trackhouse.

  • 11. Bubba Wallace

Another week of getting caught up in someone else’s mess. He should rebound well this weekend. Kansas has been good to Bubba. In his six starts at Kansas with 23XI he has one win and has only finished outside the top fifteen twice.

The Middle of The 2024 NASCAR Power Rankings

  • 10. Christopher Bell

Probably the only driver recently who has had worse luck than Bubba. Four weeks being involved in an accident is no fun. He can turn it around at Kansas where Toyota has been historically great if we are being honest.

  • 9. Joey Logano

It wasn’t great at Dover but it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been. Joey can head to Kansas and hope to do as good as he has recently finishing 5th and 6th in both races last season.

  • 8. Martin Truex Jr.

He just wasn’t as good as his teammate. Fast car but not fast enough. Watch Martin this weekend at Kansas, seriously. In his last fifteen career Kansas races, he’s finished outside the top ten three total times and one of those he was involved in an accident.

  • 7. Alex Bowman

He’s quietly performing, like I feel like he was doing a lot before his injury last season. Plus he heads to a place in Kansas where since he joined HMS he’s only finished outside the top fifteen once.

  • 6. Tyler Reddick

Tyler was a victim of everyone else out performing him this weekend. Especially his boss Denny Hamlin. The good thing is he also gets to go to Kansas with a bit of confidence knowing how successful his team has been in the mid-west.

The End This Week

  • 5. Chase Elliott

Poor qualifying effort, but caught a break early and got to play some pit strategy. Then just retained his solid field position with good pit stops and a decently fast car. Kansas isn’t a bad track for Chase either.

  • 4. Ryan Blaney

Another guy who just fell victim of everyone around him out performing him this weekend and he finished seventh. He should be able to at least finish solidly in the top fifteen this week at Kansas if history even slightly repeats itself.

  • 3. Kyle Larson

He did what Kyle Larson does if he can’t win. He pushes the car to the limit, but this time he finished the race. Look for Kyle to be atop the favorites list again this weekend at Kansas.

  • 2. Denny Hamlin

He did it again. I mean you have to give him credit. His crew rocked on pit road and he handled the lead like a veteran. Oh yeah, and he goes to Kansas where his worst finish in the last five races is fifth.

  • 1. William Byron

The top ten streak ended due to someone else’s mistake but that’s how the tire rolls sometimes. William will head to Kansas where since fall of 2019 his worst finish is sixteenth.

Dover’s Final Lap + Kansas Early Thoughts

Dover was another, well “meh” race. At least in my opinion. It could’ve been better but also I think a lot of expected what we saw. The aero blocking, and low tire wear that’s plagued other short tracks of late once again reared its ugly head.

Kansas is a mile and half track. The product should be better to watch, especially considering the next-gen car has drastically improved all of those races. I’ll repeat myself again though, I don’t think you will see anyone besides a JGR, 23XI or HMS driver walking away with this win. Especially if the Ford camps, can’t bring the qualifying speed to the race on Sunday.
