The 2024 NFL Draft is barely starting to cool down. But, it doesn’t mean it’s too early to look towards 2025. New York has a few positions that they failed to address this year, which includes the obvious position at quarterback. Pro Football Focus has them projected to finish with the fifth overall pick in next year’s draft. Let’s make it work, as we do our way-too-early New York Giants 2025 Mock Draft.

Round 1, Pick 5: QB Shadeur Sanders, Colorado

Arguably the best quarterback in next year’s draft, Sanders would completely uplift the Giants’ offense. If New York were to bring him in, he would form a dynamic duo with newly acquired wide receiver Malik Nabers.

We saw what Sanders could do at the highest level of college football last year. In his first season at Colorado, he threw 27 touchdowns compared to three interceptions. Notably, he did this behind a terrible offensive line that couldn’t prevent pressure from coming to save their lives.

His deep ball is one of the best out there and can be considered a dual-threat quarterback with his ability to scramble out of the pocket and make plays with his legs. He had to do that often, considering he was the most sacked quarterback in football last year (52 times) and needed to prevent himself from getting hit often.

Keep in mind that sacks factor into rushing yards in college football. Last year he had 111 carries for -77 yards…Regardless, it’s clear he’s a dual-threat guy when need to be.

More importantly, his ability to fire throws into tight coverage and have excellent pocket presence through chaos makes him the perfect choice to be the starting quarterback for the Giants in 2025. Add in the fact that he’s a leader in the locker room, and Sanders will contribute immediately the minute his name is called on the podium by Roger Goodell.

Round 2, Pick 37: RB TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State

The 5’10” running back decided to return to school for the 2024 season. It was a good decision, as he will be able to make a case for being the best at his position and enter the 2025 Draft as so.

As a junior, he graded at a 90.0 PFF grade, running for 925 yards and nine touchdowns for the Buckeyes. What makes him stand out is his long speed, separating himself from defenders once he gets into stride. He also had a solid change of direction and is also explosive where he can get into high gear quickly.

A running back has to have solid vision, and that he has. Quick and decisive, Henderson makes the right decision and finds the holes open for him to dart through better than most.

Though he isn’t the best pass-catcher, he can perform when needed. That’s good for a Giants team that needs a clear RB1 (committee is likely the plan for 2024).

Henderson did miss games last year with an injury on a “cheap shot”. But, he finished with at least 120 yards in three of the final five games he played in 2023. If he can improve on his receiving game, there’s no doubt the Giants will select him and have him as a featured back for years to come.

Round 3, Pick 69: S Shilo Sanders, Colorado

I sure love coming up with dream scenarios. But, is it really a dream if it could be a reality?

Like Henderson, Sanders could have declared for the draft this year but decided to go back to school and improve. This upcoming season will be his sixth season in college, and it could be a breakout one for him.

Just like his brother Shadeur, 2023 was his first at the University of Colorado. However, he did play in a Division 1 school before, playing at South Carolina in 2019 and 2020 before transferring to Jackson State.

Since being coached by his father Deion Sanders, the safety has improved mightily. That was seen in 2023, where he finished with a career-high 73.8 PFF grade (including 77.8 in coverage). He recorded a total of 65 tackles, three pass breakups, and held quarterbacks to a 79.5 rating when targeted.

What makes Sanders stand out is his willingness to hit. Whether it is in run support or just bringing receivers down, his physicality is there for us to see. The safety is athletic, and has good vision and ball skills NFL teams covet.

Though he needs to get stronger to remain a safety in the NFL, he also must work on not getting beat over the top. Whether in the slot or at his natural position, he’ll be someone the Giants’ defense would love to have.
