The New York Giants continue to add to their running back room. After a solid season in the UFL, Jacob Saylors of the St. Louis Battlehawks agreed to terms with Big Blue on Monday.

After a workout with the team last week, they were impressed enough to add the 24-year-old.

Here’s what you need to know about Saylors, and why he could make an impact for the Giants.

An Outstanding Season With The Battlehawks

Before his solid season with the Battlehawks of the UFL, Saylors was actually in the NFL for a short period. The running back signed a rookie contract with the Cincinnati Bengals last season but was released after the preseason. Then, he was signed to the Atlanta Falcons practice squad on October 18, 2023. But, he was placed on injured reserve a month later and was waived after the season ended.

But, he got a chance to ball out in the UFL. The former East Tennessee State product amassed 460 rushing yards this season, which was good for second-most behind quarterback Adrian Martinez of the Birmingham Stallions.

Saylors also had five touchdowns, which was tied for second-most in the entire league.

Why He Could Make Some Noise On The Giants

From his time at East Tennessee State to now, it’s clear Saylors is a productive player. His vision, patience, and ability to find the open hole are why he was interesting coming out of college. Along with his decent speed, it’s not hard to see why he was outstanding for the Battlehawks.

The Giants are trying everything in their power to replace the production of Saquon Barkley. Free agent acquisition Devin Singletary, Eric Gray, rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr, and Dante Miller are all candidates to get touches this year.

It will be interesting to see if Saylors can emerge from the pack and be productive at the NFL level. He has a chance with the Giants to showcase what he can bring. At a position filled with uncertainty, it shouldn’t be surprising if Jacob Saylors gets into the RB2 and possibly the RB1 conversation if things go to plan.
