Similarly to Marvin Harrison JR, Keon Coleman has the expectation that he will become the number one receiver on his team. Coleman will start his NFL career with one of the league’s best quarterbacks: Josh Allen.
I liked Coleman ahead of the draft as a prospect and seeing this be his situation is promising. He has all the opportunity in the world with no current question marks about QB play.
He should be a crucial part of the Bills offense and I think he has a good chance of thriving.
In 2023, Coleman led the Florida State Seminoles in all three categories as a pass catcher, going for 11 touchdowns. The Bills drafted him to become their Number 1 receiver. Whether or not he will do that as a rookie is up in the air. I wouldn’t be surprised to see other pass catchers in the mix as Coleman finds himself.
With how rookies have been playing lately, the potential for an immediate breakout season is not out of the ordinary.
Josh Allen
I think Josh Allen will take a step up this year in terms of being more balanced and throwing to the open man. I don’t think they will be relying on Coleman to act as their number one pass catcher fresh out of the gate. Josh seems to like both Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid.
I think that balance may be a point of emphasis for the Bills in this season. In order to win games late into the year, they’ll have to spread the ball around and keep defenses honest. I am excited to see how the Bills manage and execute their team in this next chapter.
I don’t currently have Coleman as a top receiver as a rookie but I do think he will have a good year and do his job well, whether thats laying a block or taking it to the house.
