One of the more interesting yet quiet storylines heading into the 2024 Season is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Head Coach Mike Tomlin has been one of the more successful coaches and he is heading into his 18th NFL Season, as the longest-tenured coach in the NFL. The Steelers are currently sitting as the 19th favorite team to win the Super Bowl.

I am hopeful that Russell Wilson will return to the level of play that he once had in Seattle, but it’s hard to imagine. He is a few years removed from that high level of play and I don’t think this offense has the same capabilities that those Seahawk offenses once did.

One of the abilities that made Russ so dangerous was his ability to move around in and outside of the pocket. It’s hard to know whether or not he is still as agile as a 35-year-old. In the past, he has made some magic with the ball. I think he will need to make some of those plays in order to give his team the best chance to win.

At This Point In His Career, Russ Has 5,307 Rushing Yards.

Van Jefferson

I think Van Jefferson has the chance to surprise some NFL fans this season. Jefferson has the ability to stretch the field, which is a perfect fit for the way Russ likes to play. I think the two could find some chemistry, especially if he is able to go under the radar, early in the season.

In 2021 Jefferson was responsible for 800 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns, so he is more than capable of having a good season for the Steelers.

Justin Fields

Despite this being a Russ article, I cant ignore the potential in Justin Fields. I think he will eventually see the field again as the starter. I think Russ will have to earn his job as the starting quarterback weekly, throughout the season.
