This ensures that every draft pick contributes to a cure.
Our Continued Commitment to Alex’s Lemonade Stand
Since its inception, the Belly Up Bowl has been more than just a fantasy football league. It’s been a powerful platform for philanthropy. We are immensely grateful to our community of dedicated fantasy players who have helped us raise thousands of dollars for ALSF in previous seasons. This year, we are doubling down on our commitment. Half of all prize money generated will be directly donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a national childhood cancer foundation. They dedicate themselves to raising money for research into new treatments and cures for all children battling cancer. Alexandra ‘Alex’ Scott inspired this mission when she started a lemonade stand at the age of four. Her goal was to raise money for “her hospital” to help find a cure for all kids with cancer.
ALSF has grown into a powerful force for good. They fund groundbreaking research and provide support to families facing this devastating disease. Your participation in the Belly Up Bowl directly fuels their mission. You’re helping to bring us closer to a world free from childhood cancer.
Best Ball: The “Set It and Forget It” Fantasy Format
The Belly Up Bowl will once again utilize the increasingly popular best ball fantasy football format. This innovative style of play offers all the thrill of the draft without the weekly commitment of setting lineups, scouring waiver wires, or navigating tricky trade negotiations. It’s the perfect solution for busy fantasy enthusiasts who love the strategy of building a championship team.
Here’s how best ball works:
- The Draft is Everything: You’ll participate in a traditional snake draft, carefully selecting your team from the available player pool. Your draft strategy – whether it’s loading up on quarterbacks, embracing a “zero RB” approach, or targeting late-round sleepers – is crucial, as this will be your roster for the entire season.
- No In-Season Management: Once your draft is complete, your work is done! There are no waiver wire pickups, no trades, and no weekly lineup decisions. Your team is locked in.
- Automatic Optimal Lineup: This is where best ball truly shines. Each week, the platform automatically selects the highest-scoring players from your roster to form your optimal starting lineup. For example, if your third-string wide receiver has a breakout game, their points will automatically count towards your weekly total if they outperform your other receivers. This ensures you always get the maximum possible score from your drafted players.
- Cumulative Scoring: Unlike traditional head-to-head leagues, best ball often operates on a cumulative scoring system. The team that accumulates the most points over the entire fantasy season (typically Weeks 1-17 of the NFL season) is crowned the champion. Some larger tournaments may also include playoff rounds based on cumulative scores.
This “set it and forget it” approach makes best ball incredibly accessible and enjoyable. It allows you to focus on the excitement of the NFL season knowing your fantasy team is always optimized.
Prize Money: Winning for a Purpose
The Belly Up Bowl isn’t just about bragging rights; there’s real money on the line! The organizers will announce the total prize pool closer to the draft dates. As a core principle of the Belly Up Bowl, they will donate 50% of the total prize money directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. They will award the remaining 50% to the top team in the league. No matter what, your entry fee is contributing to an incredibly worthy cause.
