NASCAR Truck Series owner/driver Jennifer Jo Cobb will make her Cup Series debut in the Geico 500 at Talladega later this month. Making her only the third female driver to race in the series since 1990. The most recent being Danica Patrick who last raced in the 2018 Daytona 500.

The 47-year-old Kansas City native will be competing in the number 15 Chevrolet Camaro for Rick Ware Racing. This will be her seventh time racing for RWR but her first in the top series. The car’s primary sponsor will be Arrowhead Brass, with the associate sponsor of Fastener Supply, Cobb’s long-time sponsor. During a team release, she said:

I have a long history with RWR and a lot of respect for this organization. This team has a lot of heart and reminds me a lot of my small team competing against such mammoth organizations. I am proud of what RWR has accomplished and I want nothing more than to make the team, Arrowhead Brass, and all my sponsors and supporters proud of this effort.

The last time the 15 ran at Talladega, it was run by Brennan Poole and landed a solid top ten finish. In last year’s Talladega truck race, Cobb led 16 laps and ended the race in 24th.

She has staked her claim in the bottom two NASCAR series for over a decade. Cobb has raced in almost 250 NASCAR events. Racing for several teams across both Xfinity and Truck before creating her own truck team in 2010. Since then, more female drivers like Hailie Deegan, Natalie Decker, and Angela Ruch have competed in the past few years.

It’s great to see her get the opportunity to run in the top series for the first time, especially since there hasn’t been a female driver race in Cup in almost three years.
