UFC News:
The former UFC light heavyweight title challenger “Lionheart” is a complex soul. He’s never hid from facts or shied away from speaking. Although he normally does it tactfully and under the radar, like the way he fights. He’s been at it more than 15-years now. But now Anthony Smith opens up about what took his mother out, and his medical situation.
Recently on MICHAEL BISPING’s Believe You Me podcast he said:
“She got sick immediately after getting her b**ster. She was fairly healthy, but got sick immediately after that. So, she got her booster and was in a coma in like two-weeks….. then recently Pfizer came out and said people over 60, on their final b**ster, they had to come out and say there’s a higher risk of stroke. That’s essentially what happened to my mom. So I’ve always connected those two things”.
He went on to say that despite Dana White‘s public stance that taking the needle would not be mandatory; he took it.
“I’m va**inated, and I end up with a blood clot. What are the chances of that? I’ve never had any issues at all. I’m really really healthy and then I end up with a blood clot. And I did it to keep my job”.
But thankfully he’s gotten back to full health. The duo were dicussing the rising amount of younger athletes now with heart problems since they took the needle. And they zeroed in on Bellator fighter Cris Lencioni, who had been in ICU for three-weeks after a heart attack where he also suffered brain damage. Another name with a happier conclussion due to the Buffalo Bills medical teams quickness is Damar Hamlin. Although he has not publicly come out against the needle, or fully opened up about his situation. But it is just another name in a very long list of “unexplained problems popping up”.
Anthony Smith Opens Up About What’s Next
Nobody knows if he’ll ever get another shot at the 205-strap. But, the fighter who took out a home invader single handedly, is still in the Top-10. He’s on a two-fight skid and post-fight each time it had the feel of him ready to hang the gloves up.
His last win was a decisive one against the tough Ryan Spann. It was his stand up that seemed a step ahead that helped propel him to victory.
The duo face each other again at the end of next month in Singapore. Smith has also stated one loss HE WANTS BACK, is against Aleksandar Rakic. Should the 34-year old pick up a pair of “w’s”, he’s literally right in the heat of title opportunity. But with the addition of “POATA”, to get the belt will be a serious gauntlet.
