Episode three of The Masked Singer Season 12 premiered this week. The viewers were treated to more fun performances and the first double elimination of the season.

The three group finalists opened the night with a superstar performance of “ High Hopes” by Panic at the Disco. It was followed by sensational renditions of songs near and dear to the contestants. Here is a recap of the special episode for those who missed it.

Group A Episode Three

Woodpecker

Song and Performance: Woodpecker gave a fun rendition of ” Put Your Records ” by Corinne Rae Bailey. She showed off more of her vocal range this week hitting some big notes throughout the song. Overall it was a nice performance.

Panel Guesses: Marsai Martin, Keke Palmer, and Tatiana Ali

Clue Package: Woodpecker grew up singing with her grandmother. She is a young mogul who acts and sings. The visual clues included a director’s chair, shimmering high heels, a briefcase, and a rubber ducky.

Ship

Song and Performance: Ship gave a beautiful rendition of the classic song ” Because of the Night” by Patti Smith Group. She impressed the panelists this week with amazing vocals and range. Therefore she could be a professional singer.

Panel Guesses: Paula Cole , Annie Lennox, Sheryl Crow

Clue Package: Ship stated that her family’s piano and music were her paradise during a tough time. She has country roots, athletic skills, and many hit songs. The visual clues included white cowboy boots, a piano, a black crow, and a boot cast.

Buffalos

Song and Performance: Buffalos gave an emotional performance of ” Bittersweet Symphony ” by The Verve. Their voices are incredible and their harmonies are some of the best. Also, they dedicated the song to a friend they lost which was a sweet touch.

Panel Guesses: Boys to Men, Bell Biv Devoe

Clue Package: Buffalos stated that they created the group to fulfill a dream others did not believe in. They are known for their corny love songs and are performing all over the world. The visual clues featured a bottle-marked poison, a cactus, poker chips, and a football poster.

This week, there was an exciting double elimination, as only one contestant from Group A can advance to the next round. The first contestant eliminated was Woodpecker who was revealed as actress Marsai Martin. An epic battle royale ended with Ship unmasking as Paula Cole.

Group B has some big shoes to fill next week as they follow Group A who had phenomenal performances  Tune in next week for Sports Night. The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 7/8 c on Fox or stream it the next day on Hulu.
