People often wonder if there is a God. I tell them that there has to be because it can’t be a coincidence for some things that happen on this Earth. The latest evidence of a supreme being pulling the strings for all of existence is that Nathan Peterman, the guy who has stats such as these…

These are the kind of stats that are actually hard to accomplish. You know when you were in school and a teacher would tell the bad kids in class that it takes more effort to fail than to pass, that’s what Nathan Peterman stats are like.

Gruden’s Eye For Talent

The answer is yes. Yes, God enjoys a good laugh. Why do you think he made it so that Job Gruden, a guy who gave up Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper believing they could be replaced and having guys think about retiring in the middle of season, would think the world of Nathan Peterman to the point that he wants to see if the recently released QB can add quality depth to his team. This is what Gruden had to say about the young Peterman in 2017.

“Peterman is ready to walk in and be a starter from day one,” Gruden wrote in April 2017, via CBSSports.com. “He just looks like a pro quarterback — coming out of the huddle, running an offense with different formations, shifting, motioning, different patterns that other colleges don’t run. Peterman will recognize route combinations and associate formations. . . . Most importantly, he will be able to get in a huddle from day one and look at 10 grown men and tell them where to go and what to do and handle a versatile snap count.”

I realize that tons of guys get positive stuff said about them every year before the draft and end up flaming out of the league. But to be so way off about a guy is simply Gruden to a T. Khalil Mack is in the running for defensive player of the year and Amari Cooper has been one of the best receivers since being traded to the Cowboys.

We Can Only Hope

We can only hope that Peterman impresses Raider coaches and makes the team. Then Derek Carr gets traded next year and Peterman starts getting serious talk about being the opening day starter as they will have a rookie siting behind Peterman to learn, which is an oxymoron. We haven’t seen the last of Nathan Peterman and I’m happy about that.

PS- Sports is so weird that there is a reality where Nathan Peterman comes back and ends up winning some games for somebody within the next few years. That’s when the rapture will take place.
