Whaaaaaat?! Out of nowhere. There’s gotta be more here, but I would be lying if I said this didn’t shock me. Steve Yzerman has built an incredible program in Tampa Bay over the past eight years at the helm. The Lightning are set to contend again this season with a loaded roster that is largely credited to Yzerman’s work.

On The Move?

I have bled Red Wings red for as long as I have been able to breathe. I’ve pondered, argued, researched, written about, lost sleep over this topic so often, it’s unhealthy. But so is raw cookie dough, and c’mon…

I have always maintained the side that said Stevie won’t return to Detroit, at least until he has a Cup in TB. My research and my gut told kept telling me Stevie wanted to finish what he built. Well, the main argument in my case has now fell through as Steve steps aside into an advisory role… for now.

Do I want to go down this path? It could be real, folks. I don’t know if this is what I want to do to myself, get my hopes up like this, but it’s more possible now than it ever was. Yzerman wanted to be a GM so badly, and with what he has built in TB, what could he possibly be eyeing to replace that? My only thought is Detroit.
