The MLB playoffs are in full swing with the NLDS and ALDS series still going providing lots of exciting moments. Here is what we have learned so far. Here are the takeaways from MLB playoffs so far.
First off we have learned that the New York Yankees are as good as they advertise, sweeping the Twins in three games of the ALDS. The Yankees look like the team to beat as they took down the Twins in convincing fashion. The Twins were unable to keep up with the Yankees in this series.
The Rays are giving the Astros trouble as they have forced game 5 and they are not giving up. This Rays team has some fight to it which can be dangerous in the playoffs. Though the Astros are considered one of the best teams in the postseason with there top-notch rotation.
It has been interesting to see how well the Rays offense has handled the Astros rotation. In game 4 the Rays managed to get to Justin Verlander who is a front runner for the CY Young award.
The Nationals upset the Dodgers by winning the series 3-2 on Wednesday night. The Dodgers were considered favorites for the World Series going into the playoffs but instead, they were ousted by a Nationals team that has been a good surprise. For the Nationals, there were considered underdogs especially after Bryce Harper left in free agency.
One of those moments coming in game 5, in the top of the eighth inning the Dodgers led 3-1 and Clayton Kershaw came in relief. 3 pitches, 3 home runs, and the Nationals tied the game. Then they ultimately went on to beat the Dodgers 7-3.
The Cardinals ousted the Braves 3-2 in the series after a dominating 13-1 game 5 victory. The offense has really shown up for the Cardinals in this series. The Braves did have their moments, they just couldn’t get that big play and their pitching had some trouble in the end.
The Division series brought some fun games that showed why the MLB playoffs are the best. The Nationals will take on the Cardinals in what looks to be an unexpected Championship series. It could go either way but the Nationals seem to be on a high so they may have the advantage.
The Yankees are still waiting on their opponent, as the Rays and Astros face off for game 5 Thursday night. Even though the Yankees have a good team the long wait between series may hurt them in the end. The next round could bring even more surprises, tune into these games.
