There are MLB teams that have used this offseason as a way to lessen their payroll where other teams have used it to their advantage in scoring some of the talented free agents. There are three teams that have so far won the offseason as far as making their team better.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have had a few issues in past seasons, but they are building a young talented team. They are trying to build around Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio. They found a way to sign free agent pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu who despite injury concerns is considered one of the top pitchers in MLB. He will be a good asset to the Blue Jays rotation.

Arizona Diamondbacks

offseason

The Diamondbacks are coming off a season where they just missed the playoffs while losing Zack Greinke and Paul Goldschmidt. They signed ace Madison Bumgarner in a surprising move during the winter meetings. Bumgarner was considered a top free agent this year and he was expected to get a big deal. The Diamondbacks hope this helps fill in for losing Greinke in the rotation, a mentor for younger pitchers. It’s still possible that they will make another move considered how good their farm system is.

Chicago White Sox

The White Sox have had a productive offseason in hopes of getting over the hump in 2020. They signed pitcher Dallas Keuchel and Yasmani Grandal recently. Keuchel is a veteran who will be a good asset to their young rotation. Grandal helps strengthen the lineup while adding veteran presence behind the plate. The White Sox also added Gio Gonzalez for the back end of their rotation. These moves make sense for the White Sox as they try to take the next step forward.

These three teams made some good moves to help their teams. Keep an eye for them as we get closer to free agency. There may be more moves to come in the next few weeks.
