The National League Central looks to be a competitive division this season. Let’s preview what the NL Central teams could look like. This could end up being one of the more competitive divisions if everything goes right. Although on paper, the Cardinals seem to have the better team, anything can happen in baseball. This division has the potential to produce many playoff contenders in 2020. Here is a little preview of the NL Central teams.
NL Central teams
The Cardinals will be returning with most of their team intact. Their biggest strength is the depth of their outfield and the defense. The Cardinals seem to have a pretty deep line up that could cause opponents some trouble. The rotation may not be as strong as the rest of the team.
The new-look Brewers are looking to start again in 2020. During a busy offseason, they managed to redo most of their roster. Ryan Braun and Christian Yellich lead the strong outfield and the middle order of the line -up. The pitching for the Brewers is another strength if everyone stays healthy. The only thing for the Brewers will be how all the pieces fit together.
The Reds look to be a contender after a productive offseason where they shored up their team. They have a deep lineup and plenty of pitching. It seems that depth is something that they don’t have a shortage of. The question is whether they can balance out all the pieces.
The Pirates had an overhaul in the management department after missing the playoffs. Their defense, especially in the outfield, will be a strength. The rotation lacks some depth and that can hurt them. They could be looking at another year of rebuilding because they have some holes to fill. The NL Central is a tough division to compete in.
