At long last the Reds finally have a Cy Young winner! Trevor Bauer on Wednesday night became the first Reds player to ever win the award. With his outstanding 2020 season it was well deserved, as he led the national league in ERA, WHIP, batting average against, shutouts, and etc. Along with that he was second in the national league for strikeouts and strikeouts per 9- innings.
The voting was not really close for this race as Bauer gathered 27 of the 30 first place votes. Yu Darvish got the other 3 first place votes and was the clear second place finisher behind Bauer. In celebration here are all of Bauer’s strikeouts for the 2020 season.

More Money to Come for Bauer
Bauer had a 5-4 record for his 2020 campaign and a National League best 1.73 ERA in just 11 starts. He was also a major contributor to helping the Reds make the playoffs this year for the first time since 2013.
Bauer is unfortunately a free agent this offseason, and his future in a Reds jersey looks questionable. He is seeking some major loot thanks to his 2020 Cy Young season. Possibly too much for the Reds to pay. Bauer has already turned down the Reds qualifying offer of $18.9 million. That was to be expected as Bauer is trying to get a contract worth over $25 million. Now, it is not all bad news as Bauer has stated he turned down the offer. He has not turned down the opportunity to return to the Reds. He has said this year was the most fun he has ever had playing baseball. There is still a chance that the Reds can keep their Cy Young winner.
Dressing for Success!
People always say dress for success right? Bauer did just that Wednesday night. He not only won the Cy Young award that night, he also won best dressed by a mile.
Bauer was acquired by the Reds last year via trade right before the trade deadline. He struggled to say the least when joining the Reds last year. In his 10 starts with the club he had a record of 2-5 and a ERA of 6.39. Bauer did not live up to expectations when acquired last season , and fans were having their doubts on the passionate right hander. He threw all those doubts away this season, for obvious reason.
Bauer started Game 1 of the playoffs against the Braves, and lets just say he was having his way with that Braves lineup. Striking 12 batter in 7 2/3 innings, and only giving up 2 hits in his lone post season appearance this year. Reds still unfortunately lost the game 1-0 in a grueling 13 innings. Reds then went ahead and lost 5-0 in game 2 against the Brave, which would eventually end their run in the 2020 season.
The devastated end of the season does not take away the great year that Bauer had, so lets relive some of his best moments from this past year, shall we?
