Peña Is Heading to His First World Series
After the Astros defeated the Yankees 6-5 to finish the sweep, Houston’s shortstop Jeremy Peña won his first ALCS MVP award. Peña, 25, had an outstanding postseason so far, especially in the League Championship Series, going 6-17, with three R, four RBIs, two HRs, and two 2B. He has been impressive this whole rookie campaign, and in the Division Series, he hit the go-ahead home run against the Seattle Mariners in the 18th inning of Game 3 that sealed the deal. It is great to see a local product from Rhode Island perform on baseball’s biggest stage and shine bright at the right time.
Look For Peña to Continue His Success Against the Phillies
It’s official the Houston Astros will be hosting the Philadelphia Phillies for Game 1 of the World Series Friday night in Houston. Keep a close eye on Peña to do more damage in the World Series and contribute in key moments that will help the Astros contend for another title. The Phillies will have a tough task in trying to contain Peña and their electrifying offense, which also includes Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, and Yuli Gurriel. I am sure fans are happy to see what a great replacement he has been after Carlos Correa left in free agency a season ago. Houston has not missed a beat at the shortstop position because Peña seems the better fielder, hitter, and all-around player that fits the system they have.

Jeremy Peña Has a Good Chance Sweep Both Awards
If the Astros end up winning the World Series, Peña will have an opportunity to sweep both the ALCS and the World Series MVP awards. It will all depend on what happens in the series’ outcome, but It would be impressive to see a rookie have the opportunity to win the awards and a ring on top of it all. If that does happen, Peña will have a 2022 rookie season to remember, from his first career home run out in Anaheim to making it all the way to the Fall Classic. Like everyone, we are just going to have to wait and see in the matter of a couple of weeks from now.
