MLB’s best remaining free agents are exploring as the stove heats up. As several superstars have been signed as we near the new year.
It has already been a fun offseason with plenty of surprises and big superstar deals. Such as Aaron Judge returning to the Yankees with a massive deal. Jacob DeGrom heading to the Rangers, and Carlos Correa joining the Giants. Those are just a few of the stars finding new homes. Here are some of the best remaining free agents.
Best Remaining Free Agents
The best remaining free agents include mainly infielders and outfielders. Since a lot of the good pitchers have already found homes. Middle infielder Jean Segura is a good option for teams looking for a second baseman. He finally got put his talent on display last season, especially in the postseason, where he delivered clutch hits for the Phillies with a .462 average. Segura had a solid 761 OPS over the past three seasons, and he is a good defender.
Another player available that should get some attention is shortstop Jose Iglesias. He is coming off a fantastic 2022 season with the Rockies, with a .708 OPS. Also, he was one of their most reliable hitters and made some unbelievable plays at shortstop. Teams need to take a hard look because he is a solid player all around. Though there is still a chance, he goes back to Colorado.
More Remaining Free Agents
Evan Longoria is one of the interesting free agents who is in the later part of his career. He could be a steal for a team in need, especially a contender who needs a short-term upgrade. Longoria is still a good defender and hits for power. Teams like Guardians or Red Sox might be good options for him next year.
Jurickson Profar takes the top spot among the remaining left fielders. In 2022 he had a strong season all around with the Padres. He was a consistent hitter and one of the best defenders on the market. Profar comes with the bonus of being able to play every position besides pitcher. Another similar outfielder to watch would be Kevin Kiermaier, who is an upgrade for many teams looking for a centerfielder. Also, he could be an inexpensive choice for smaller market teams.
There are plenty more free agents available that teams will be looking at. Therefore, fans should keep an eye on these players. Stay tuned for more MLB news and stories.
