Ten weeks into the MLB season some things have cleared up, but not everything. Two new teams have entered the top ten, while the Pirates had the most significant rise, the Cardinals had the biggest fall. Here are the MLB power rankings for week ten.
1. Tampa Bay Rays +/-0
The Rays stay on top but their lead is shrinking. Wander Franco is having an MVP-level season batting .305 and stealing 21 bases so far. The injury bug has bitten the pitching staff but they continue to overachieve.
2. Texas Rangers +3
I have been slow to jump on the Rangers bandwagon, but they are hard to ignore. They lead the league with a +143 run differential. The bats are hot, and the pitching has been solid. The Rangers look like a legit threat.
3. Baltimore Orioles +/-0
Baltimore is one of the more exciting teams to watch this season. I always come back to the pitching. How long will it hold up? So far, the Orioles have done what it takes, so they remain in the top three this week.
4. Houston Astros +2
Health is and was the question with this team. Pitching has been very good, and the return of Jose Altuve has boosted the offense. The Astros are nipping at the heels of the Rangers.
5. Arizona Diamondbacks +3
I am on record for thinking Arizona was a playoff team this year, but I did not see them leading the NL West at the beginning of June. Arizona refuses to go away, and they overtook the Dodgers this week. They look like they will be in a season-long battle with LA, and they just may win.
6. New York Yankees +1
The offense is fine in NY, but the pitching has not been consistent. The Yankees are playing well enough for this point in the season, but need much improvement to be considered a top contender in the AL.
7. Los Angeles Dodgers -3
This season for the Dodgers is all about next season. That has not stopped the LA players from showing up. A resurgence for Max Muncy has helped, but the Dodgers have fallen back to second in the West and dropped a few spots in the MLB power rankings for week ten.
8. Atlanta Braves -6
The NL East is one of the wackiest divisions in the MLB. The Braves continue to sit on top, but they should be running away from the division and have yet to do so.
9. Toronto Blue Jays +6
While the NL East is wacky, the AL East is stacked. The Blue Jays had a great week and will need to stack a few great weeks to get to the top of the division.
10. Miami Marlins +6
Miami is another team I just cannot believe in, but their record cannot be ignored. With back-to-back series against the A’s and Royals, the Marlins are in a position to catch the Braves soon.
11. Minnesota Twins -1
12. Milwaukee Brewers +1
13. Boston Red Sox -2
14. New York Mets -5
15. Pittsburgh Pirates +8
16. Seattle Mariners -4
17. Los Angeles Angels -3
18. San Francisco Giants +/-0
19. Detroit Tigers +/-0
20. Cleveland Guardians +1
21. San Diego Padres +1
22. Philidelphia Phillies -2
23. Cincinnati Reds +2
24. Colorado Rockies +2
25. Chicago Cubs -1
26. St. Louis Cardinals -9
27. Washington Nationals +/-0
28. Chicago White Sox +1
29. Kansas City Royals -1
30. Oakland Athletics +/-0
