Pedro Grifol Is A Dead Manager Managing

If the Oakland Athletics are an example of how not to do something, the Chicago White Sox might be another one. The 2024 Chicago White Sox might go down as the worst team to ever take the field in the modern era. They’ve already had a 14-game losing streak and currently have one that just hit 19 games. Yet somehow, manager Pedro Grifol still has a job. As each game passes, it becomes more obvious that he has lost the clubhouse. At this point, it’s just a matter of time before Pedro Grifol is a former Chicago White Sox manager.

This White Sox Team Just Might Be The Worst Team Ever

The 2024 edition of the Chicago White Sox might be the worst team the sport has ever seen. They are currently on pace to lose 123 games, which would break the 1962 New York Mets loss record. The Sox are near the bottom of the league in many major offensive and pitching statistics. Chicago has had a 14-game losing streak and is currently on one that just reached 19 games. The South Siders have yet to reach ten wins in a month this year. The difference between the two is that the Mets were an expansion franchise and the Sox have existed for 124 years.

Pedro Grifol Has Lost The Clubhouse

As the season has gone on, it’s becoming more obvious that this team is over Pedro Grifol. His methods of motivation have become nothing more than platitudes to the players. He reportedly recently made batting practice and running mandatory. He also allegedly said that if the Sox do indeed break the loss record, it’ll be all on the players. Grifol even tried to motivate the players by saying they’d go down as the worst team in history. Meanwhile, the message has fallen on deaf ears and the team is still losing. Heck, during a game this year, reliever Steven Wilson even cold-shouldered him during a pitching change. We all know that Wilson’s explanation after doing it was a bald-faced lie.

The White Sox Have Only Gotten Worse

You don’t hear more “Fire Pedro” chants at Sox games because not many people are going. It’s hard to blame them. The only teams Chicago is outdrawing are the Rays, Marlins, and Athletics. Fortunately for Pedro Grifol, I guess he doesn’t have to worry about being booed during a pitching change. There is no fight left in his team and all the players want to do at this point is to finish this catastrophic season. The White Sox have been so bad the past three seasons that I doubt anybody cares anymore what they do. Remember Grifol took over a team that finished 81-81 and all they’ve done is regress badly in almost two seasons. The same issues that plagued the club the past three years have either stayed the same, gotten worse, or new ones have arisen

Pedro Grifol Should Know He’s As Good As Gone

There is nothing else Pedro Grifol can do to win back the clubhouse let alone save his job. His fate was sealed in June or possibly even earlier in the season. With the team currently on a 19-game losing streak, it’s quite shocking that he still has a job. It just might be one of the biggest mysteries in baseball. The bigger shock might be if the team lets him finish the season. Grifol probably took a lesson from Angel Hernandez on how to be bad at your job and still keep it. Given how the Sox have played under Grifol for nearly two years, he just might go down as the worst manager in the history of the game.
