Since coming to the Brewers, Willy Adames has been one of their better players. His positive contribution on offense and defense has helped the Brewers win the NL Central twice in the past three seasons. The Brewers star will be a free agent after this season. Adames is already close to surpassing his previous career marks in many major offensive categories this season. The 29-year-old right-handed shortstop is setting himself up for a big payday this offseason.
Willy Adames Has Had Success The Last Four Seasons

In almost four seasons in Milwaukee, Adames has put together a slash line of .245/.325/.458 with 102 home runs, 331 RBI, and a .781 OPS. One could argue that he has been the Brewers “energizer bunny.” In 2022, the 29-year-old even broke Hall-of-Famer Robin Yount’s record for home runs hit by a shortstop. More importantly, Adames has also been a strong clubhouse leader during his entire tenure in Milwaukee. With the help of Adames, the Brewers have won NL Central titles in two of the past three seasons. Willy Adames has also been a fan favorite as well. He always douses whoever the player of the game is with Gatorade after a Brewers home win.
Willy Adames will be a free agent after this season. With free agency looming, the Brewers shortstop is having the best season of his career. He is set to surpass his previous career highs in home runs, RBI, hits, doubles, and runs. Adames has had a stretch this season where he homered in four straight games. Thanks partly to Willy Adames’s big year, the Brewers are also on their way to another NL Central title.
He Will Have No Shortage Of Interested Suitors In The Offseason

Shortstop is the most important and lucrative position on the field. A team needs a quality shortstop to have success. It’s almost the equivalent of an NFL team needing a successful quarterback. The 29-year-old is currently projected to earn between $100 to $200 million this offseason. While he’s never been an all-star, Adames has averaged just over 25 homers and 86 RBI with the Brewers and has been a mostly good defender. Teams crave someone like Adames in their lineup and the 29-year-old will have no shortage of potential suitors.
What This Means For The Brewers
Given how the team operates, the Brewers star has most likely priced himself out of Milwaukee. Brice Turang and Joey Ortiz were originally shortstops and moving them back to the position would make sense. The Brewers farm system also has six players ranked inside their top 30 prospects list. One prospect, Cooper Pratt is ranked 61st on MLB’s top 100 prospects list. The Milwaukee Brewers have no shortage of potential options if Willy Adames leaves.
