There’s buzz coming from Houston after the latest Yankees/Astros series and this time it wasn’t coming from the jersey of Jose Altuve!

Yankees draw first blood

The Yankees traveled to Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas for a 3 game series and what was expected to be another drama-filled matchup between the two explosive teams. The Yankees handled games 1 and 2 with ease winning 4-0 and 1-0. Ex-Astro Gerrit Cole pitched a gem of a game on Saturday, July 10th, going all 9 innings with 12 strikeouts and only allowing 3 hits on 129 pitches thrown. However, Aaron Judge was the main headline from that game, hitting a 419-foot BOMB in the 3rd then promptly sending a message to the Astros trolling Jose Altuve about making sure his jersey stays on.

Judge was quick to deny those allegations, smugly claiming that “whenever they keep the roof closed here, it’s pretty chilly”! However as a Houstonian myself, I can safely say that it is NEVER “chilly” in July in Texas!

A few of the other Yankee players, such as Catcher, Gary Sanchez, jumped in on the joke during the final game of the series on Sunday bringing out the winter jackets because of how “cold” it was in Houston.

Altuve and the Astros end the series with the last laugh

The real fireworks came on Sunday night where the Astros mounted a 6 run comeback in the bottom of the ninth to win the game 8-7. The rally was capped off by a 3 run DINGER sent into the famous Crawford Boxes in leftfield of Minute Maid Park. The Astros dugout was quick to rush out to meet Altuve at home plate where they instantly ripped his jersey to shreds disproving any ideas of the Astros still cheating.

Even the Astros social media team got in on the jokes, trolling Judge about his comments on the temperature inside the park!

Aaron Boone, Yankee Manager, called the loss a “gut punch” in his postgame interview which he should because according to MLB.com “teams are 493-2 when leading by four or more going into the 9th inning this season” and it just so happens that the Yankees are responsible for both. The other 9th inning collapse was only 10 games earlier against the Los Angeles Angels on June 30th where they allowed 7 runs in the top of the ninth, losing the game 11-8.

I hope Yankee fans everywhere have fever dreams of this chart, knowing they choked that game away and about how much money they’re blowing on Gerrit Cole whose production has dropped immensely since leaving Houston and putting on the pinstripes. I personally fall asleep with a smile on my face knowing Jose Altuve lives rent-free in the heads of every loudmouth Yankee fan that is still salty about the Astros cheating scandal.
