There’s nothing better than a good fight to get the crowd on their feet. Hockey has bounced around between the play style, rule changes, and everything in between, but the knuckle chucking continues.
I caught myself 30 videos down on a Facebook post watching hockey fights, and it inspired me to give my two cents. Now I’ve watched thousands of fights, but I’m gonna give a run through of a few of my all time favorites through the endless amount of fight montages that I’ve spent my younger years watching.
PJ Stock
I was too young to fully appreciate Stock, but from what I’ve seen out of his play style and fighting abilities, he’s one of those guys that the people were paying to see. After seeing the beatings he dealt, it made sense why my brother would wear Stock’s “Ass Kicker” shirt.
Evander Kane
This fight was one that truly opened my eyes to Evander Kane. He went toe to toe with Matt Cooke, AKA one of the biggest Dirtbags in the history of the NHL. I’ve never liked Cooke and never will, so Kane, putting him to sleep in one punch was one hell of a sight. R.I.P. Thrashers.
Milan Lucic
I’m sure glad we had this guy as long as we did in Boston. An enforcer in every meaning of the word, and one hell of a team player as well. It was tough to see him go. A guy that could kick someone’s ass and score goals. Glad to see he’s still at it chuckin’.
Ron Hextall
By far one of the dirtiest goalies, but he lived up to being a Broad St. Bully. Probably one of the first goalies I’ve ever seen fight a skater.
Gordie Howe
I’m not sure if there is even a true scuffle in this video, but it’s the best video I could get from his playing days. I figured when talking about hockey fights I couldn’t leave of a guy that’s got a fight, a goal and an assist in one game, named after him. The good ole’ Gordie Howe Hat Trick.
Terry O’Reilly
Unfortunately, he was before my time, but I think this video and the countless others can speak for themselves, this guy was an ass kicker.
