Live from Cleveland, Ohio, inside the Quicken Loans Arena, I bring you my star ratings from WWE Fastlane 2019!
Pre Show
New Day (Woods & Big E) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev – The New Day always have solid pre show matches. 3 stars.
SmackDown Tag Team Championships: Usos (c) vs. McMiz
Miz was over tonight in Cleveland. The crowd ate up everything he did. The Usos eventually won with a roll up on Miz. Overall a solid way to start the show and Shane turning heel at the end is a good angle to go towards Wrestlemania. 3.25 stars.
SmackDown Woman’s Championship: Asuka (c) vs. Mandy Rose
This was a shorter match. Sonya Deville inadvertently cost Mandy the match, giving the win to Asuka. 2 stars.
Handicap Match: Kofi Kingston vs. The Bar
Sheamus & Cesaro beat Kofi down from the beginning, picking up the win easily. 0.5 stars.
Raw Tag Team Championships: The Revival (c) vs. Roode & Gable vs. Ricochet & Aleister Black
These teams did a good job getting the crowd back into the show. Great finish. 3.5 stars.
United States Championship: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Andrade vs. Rey Mysterio vs. R Truth
This was a good match. All four men put on solid action throughout the match and the finish was great. Joe retains by choking out Rey Mysterio. 3.25 stars.
WWE Woman’s Tag Team Championships: Banks & Bayley (c) vs. Jax & Tamina
Nia Jax botched a couple of times and it really took away from the match. Decent action and the Boss-N-Hug Connection retain their titles. 2 stars.
WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kevin Owens vs. Mustafa Ali
‘We want Kofi’ chants took away from the match early but the trio won the crowd over as the match went on. They stole the show. This was the best match on the card. 4 stars.
Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair
These two could main event Wrestlemania by themselves and steal the show if they wanted to. They also have the potential to have a match of the year if they wanted to.
This was not the case here as the story didn’t call for it. Becky sold the whole time before Ronda Rousey came in to have Lynch win by DQ. 2.25 stars.
The Shield vs. Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley & Drew McIntyre
Great main event! It was great to see the Shield back together as well as Roman Reigns back in the ring. The Shield win with the triple power bomb on Corbin to end the show. 3.5 stars.
Overall, Fastlane was a solid PPV! I, along with fellow BellyUpSports writer, Hunter Shelton were lucky enough to attend this event live. Several angles set up potential Wrestlemania matches and Raw and SmackDown Live will be must see this week!
Here’s to a great week of wrestling!
